Job Context:
∎ Bangladesh Initiative to Enhance Nutrition Security and Governance (BieNGS) funded by European Union.
∎ The overall objective is to improve maternal and child nutrition in six sub districts of in rural and nutritionally vulnerable areas of Jamalpur and Sherpur districts of Bangladesh by promoting multi sector pro poor governance models and nutrition interventions.
∎ Project Locations: Jamalpur & Sherpur.
∎ The purpose of the role is to provide overall technical leadership and support in developing and implementing the BieNGS project, aligning and focusing on Local Value Chain Development (LVCD) & Economic Development including contribution to enhancing the organizational capacity for effective Local Value Chain Development (LVCD) & Economic Development programming and promoting continual learning and innovation.
∎ Position will determine capacity development plan and follow up execution of the plan.
∎ The position will also explore the opportunities for value chain & economic development initiatives implementation research and communicates learning from programming.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide technical leadership on nutrition sensitive agriculture value chain and economic development interventions and backstopping for the Local Value Chain Development Model
∎ Market linkage by connecting producer groups with local and national markets and ensuring producers receive fair prices.
∎ Facilitate/co-facilitate the (re) designs of nutrition sensitive agriculture development (NSA) components.
∎ Provide technical guidance and backstopping to the implementation of nutrition sensitive agriculture.
∎ Provide a technically innovative program that will attract interest from research institutions, commercial buyers and other donors.
∎ Enable the team to work together so that agriculture, nutrition and marketing programs are integrated and provide synergy.
∎ Enhance capacity of project staff to mainstream nutrition sensitive agriculture, promote inter-sectoral integration and liaise with stakeholders.
∎ Establish strong networking and coordination amongst public, private and market systems at district and sub district level.
∎ Strategic oversight and development of Value Chain Implementation guidelines, implementation and follow up process.
∎ Technical Knowledge, Capacity & competency development of project staff / Community Partners etc.
∎ Internal and external liaison and coordination with different Stakeholders.
∎ Documentation & Reporting.
∎ Quality Assurance.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 30 years
∎ Knowledge of nutrition sensitive Value Chain Development and poverty dynamics, issues, and contributing factors.
∎ Knowledge of programming resources and tools in for Value Chain Development & Economic Development programming.
∎ Understanding of fundamental research and design processes leading to project model development.
∎ Understanding of strategy implementation and organizational change processes.
∎ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
∎ Proficiency in computer & online tools including Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes (or similar software), email, internet.
∎ Demonstrated inter-personal and negotiation skills.
∎ Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, relevant for tasks related to research and strategy development.
∎ Experience working on Value Chain Development & Economic Activities Development planning
∎ Experience in an advisory or leadership position.
∎ Experience in supporting practitioner learning and competency development in a technical or issue-based field.
∎ Experience with strategy development & implementation processes.
∎ Experience with applied research relevant to Value Chain Development issues.
∎ Demonstrated experience in program or project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
∎ Experience in working in Asia Pacific countries.
∎ Project office based work.
∎ Need-based field visit - 50% of time visit to field locations (Project sites).
∎ Pro-multi-ethnic/multicultural/multi-religious.
