Job Context:
∎ Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss INGO focusing on child rights. It is active in more than 30 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh interventions are focused on three programs: Health, Migration and Access to Justice particularly for vulnerable children. Tdh Foundation has a transversal approach towards Child Protection programming and it cuts across all the thematic areas while also has been considered as one of the key value propositions in its business model. The Child Protection expertise within Tdh Foundation aims to develop high quality, evidence-based knowledge and know-how adapted to fragile contexts, conflict zones, and development to improve the protection of children`s rights and their right to protection from all forms of violence (art 19, 34 CRC) in collaboration with and in support of the three core programs. The Tdh Foundation global strategy 2021-2024 specifies that the will have demonstrated that rights-based participation, empowerment, and active involvement of children and communities in defining and implementing responses are essential to improve child protection.
∎ Tdh is working in Bangladesh since 1974, with operations in Kurigram district, Dhaka district and Cox Bazaar district. Currently, Tdh is implementing programs on Health, Access to Justice (social cohesion and conflict resolution) and Migration, integrated by the transversal expertise WASH and Child protection. Tdh interventions in Bangladesh are both in development and emergency context.
∎ Following the massive displacement of more than 800,000 people into Bangladesh since the end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on Health, WASH, Child Protection and Social cohesion. Alongside, Tdh is implementing the CLARISSA project in Dhaka slums aiming to build a strong evidence base and generate innovative solutions to the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) and will explore how to take these solutions to scale.
∎ Tdh in Bangladesh has started the process of integration of emergency and development approaches and aims to capitalize its institutional learning for further programme expansion and to create critical pathways for evidence-based advocacy.
∎ Purpose of the post
∎ Perform triage and admittance of patients
∎ Diagnosing patients
∎ Treating patients and if necessary referring them
∎ Administration and statistics

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Ensuring the quality of triage
∎ Making sure the most severe cases are seen as a priority
∎ Regularly going through the waiting line in order to detect emergencies
∎ Examining newly admitted patients:
∎ Systematically checking measles vaccination status in children aged from 9 months to 5 years old (or 15 years old depending on the context) and from 6 months old during epidemic periods
∎ Asking all questions relating to complaints (start of the problems, symptoms, intensity of the pain, etc.) and undertaking a systematic examination of all patients
∎ Measuring the vital parameters of all patients: temperature, heart and respiratory rates, blood pressure etc.
∎ Registering the main elements of osculation on surveillance forms, along with the dates and times of patient arrivals
∎ Undertaking complementary examinations if necessary
∎ Diagnosing the syndromes of the following pathologies or conditions:
∎ Uncomplicated malaria and isolated fever presumed malarial, Pneumonia without signs of severity, Gastritis, Uncomplicated diarrhoea, Stomatitis/oral candidiasis Sexually transmittable disease (STD), Bloody diarrhoea, Conjunctivitis, Scabies, tinea, lice, Moderate dehydration High and low urinary infection (not very serious form), Worms, Ear infection, throat infection, rhinitis Moderate anaemia Chicken pox
∎ Bronchitis, Avitaminosis A, Gynaecological problems, Skin problems, ENT problems Digestive problems, Neurological problems, Respiratory problems, Urinary problems
∎ Treating pathological conditions from the list above, following the Tdh protocols
∎ Prescribing whole treatments according to the pathologies diagnosed
∎ Explaining (in collaboration with the pharmacy manager) the treatment to patients and the importance of following them correctly
∎ Advising patients on basic hygiene measures and on what to do if the symptoms become worse
∎ Treating non-complicated wounds, treating first degree burns, being capable of treating an abscess
∎ Recognising and referring patients with conditions falling beyond his competencies
∎ To the referral doctor for all cases requiring a medical/surgical opinion
∎ To the reference hospital for cases requiring emergency hospitalisation
∎ To the nutrition centre (if one exists) for children presenting signs of severe malnutrition
∎ Filling out consultation forms, the register and epidemiological information correctly
∎ Registering the main elements and the diagnoses
∎ Making clear notes on the medical prescriptions
∎ Ticking off the epidemiological form, distinguishing new cases from the old and choosing the most important diagnostic
∎ Informing the referral doctor of all abnormal increases of any one pathology
∎ Other tasks
∎ Watching over the rational use of medicines
∎ Participating in the management of the health care team
∎ Participating in team meetings
∎ Collecting statistical data on a weekly/monthly basis
∎ Pointing out all dysfunctions in the organisation of care to the supervisor or referral doctor
∎ Accept other responsibilities as assigned by the Line Manager

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 25 years
∎ At minimum medical doctor profile, preferably with technical specialization
∎ A minimum of 2 years post-registration (clinical) work experience
∎ Ability to cope with stress
∎ Ability to work well as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team
∎ Ability to organize and prioritise workload, using initiative when appropriate
∎ Able to work independently
∎ Good communicator
∎ Good organizational skills
