Job Context:
∎ The Dispenser Assistant is a member of the IRC health team and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the IRCs emergency and primary healthcare activities in the Rohingya Refugee Camp. This position will primarily be responsible to assist dispensing medicines to patients and ensuring the implementation of medical stock recording, tracking, and management systems.
∎ The position is responsible for supervising and implementing the following specific activities:
∎ Day to day dispensing of drugs at the health facility/mobile clinic.
∎ Ensuring appropriate storage of medical drugs, equipment and supplies
∎ Job Location: Camp-11
∎ Contract Length: Till 30 June 2023 (with possibility of extension)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Pharmaceutical Management:
∎ Dispense medicines to all patients according to the doctor's prescription and ensure that the prescription is align with drug indication.
∎ Provide counselling to patients regarding the proper usage of prescribed medications with clear instruction in both written and verbally.
∎ Regularly update daily, weekly, and monthly consumption in supervision of Pharmacy Dispenser.
∎ Routinely monitor the expiry dates of medicines; those medicines with short expiry dates will be used first before they become expired.
∎ Keep the drug store clean and store the medicine appropriately with up to date stock cards, in order to be checked easily and issued properly.
∎ Monitor and ensure optimum room temperatures are maintained and charting room temperatures regularly.
∎ Prevent physical damage and contamination of drugs.
∎ Ensure all stationaries and logistics required for pharmacy are timely requested and available in the pharmacy.
∎ Work with other health staff to ensure clinic areas are appropriately stocked with essential equipment and supplies.
∎ Work with relevant staff to ensure prompt requesting of medical drugs and supplies.
∎ With Supports from Clinical Supervisors and Dispenser, perform IRC pharmacy inventory management including inventory check using IRC standard inventory tools
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 18 to 60 years
∎ Experience of working in hospital or health post preferably in humanitarian setup.
∎ Minimum 1 year of experience in dispensing medicine
∎ Pharmacy council registration (A or B category) is mandatory.
∎ Required to be a great teammate with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying patience, compassion and diplomacy.
∎ Ability to live in challenging conditions and ability to work under difficult, high pressure situations.
