Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support in Sanitary Assessment: Assist the WASH department in conducting sanitary assessments to ensure water quality standards are met.
∎ Chemical Water Treatment Support: Provide support to the WASH department in implementing chemical water treatment processes, such as chlorine disinfection.
∎ Supply of Safe Drinking Water: Ensure the supply of safe drinking water to the designated areas.
∎ Water Sampling: Collect water samples from households, tap stands, and water sources following established guidelines.
∎ Preparation and Preservation of Media: Prepare and preserve media for water testing according to compendia, ensuring proper storage conditions and appropriate labeling.
∎ Water Testing: Conduct biological (TTC/FC), chemical (free residual chlorine, pH, salinity), and physical (turbidity and odor) water tests (also using DelAgua kit).
∎ Inventory Management: Monitor consumables for the portable water test kit and follow-up on their usage.
∎ Data Management: Maintain a daily log and track data related to water testing activities.
∎ Reporting: Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports on the conducted tests.
∎ Equipment Maintenance: Manage and maintain all necessary equipment of the portable water test kit.
∎ Preparation of Water Quality Testing Plan: Develop a plan for water quality testing activities, ensuring the availability of necessary testing materials and equipment. Align the plan with project and sector guidance.
∎ Plant Maintenance: Take responsibility for the maintenance of the water treatment plant, ensuring its proper functioning and optimal performance.
∎ Work Plan Preparation: Develop an effective work plan for water quality testing, plant operations, and maintenance. Prioritize tasks based on urgency and project requirements.
∎ Reporting to Management: Regularly report implementation progress to management through oral and email communication. Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates on the status of water quality activities.
∎ Establishing Working Relationships: Foster a positive and effective working relationship with WASH team members, Tdh's respective line department, and other relevant authorities and stakeholders. Promote collaboration and open communication to ensure smooth coordination of water quality activities.
∎ Contact with DPHE: Maintain contact with the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) to manage and coordinate required water quality tests. Collaborate with DPHE for guidance on testing protocols and procedures.
