Technical Skills:

  • Expert-level proficiency with Tier-1 ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Strong data analysis and financial modeling skills.

Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary:

The Deputy Head of Inventory is a key senior management position responsible for supporting the Head of Inventory in the execution of the company's comprehensive inventory strategy. This role involves direct oversight of inventory operations, ensuring the effective management of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, manage the inventory team on a day-to-day basis, and play a crucial part in optimizing working capital and enhancing supply chain efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Execution & Support:

Assist in the development and lead the execution of the company-wide inventory management strategy.

Implement and enforce policies for inventory control, cycle counting, stock valuation, and management of slow-moving or obsolete stock.

Team Leadership & Operations Management:

Directly manage and mentor the inventory management team, including supervisors, overseeing their daily activities.

Drive the achievement of departmental KPIs and promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Financial & Working Capital Optimization:

Monitor the inventory balance sheet, focusing on executing strategies to optimize inventory turnover and improve working capital.

Assist in managing the annual inventory budget and perform variance analysis to support financial targets.

Process & System Enhancement:

Oversee projects to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency through the optimization of ERP/WMS systems.

Champion and implement best practices in warehouse management, including layout, material flow, and storage solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Participate actively in the Sales & Operations Planning process, ensuring tight coordination with Procurement, Production, and Sales teams.

Prepare and analyze inventory performance reports, providing actionable insights to senior leadership.

Risk Management & Compliance:

Execute strategies to mitigate inventory-related risks such as stockouts, overstocking, and obsolescence.

Ensure all inventory operations are compliant with regulatory standards and internal audit requirements.
