  • Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in large-scale logistics/operations, preferably food distribution, FMCG, or humanitarian projects.
  • At least 3-5 years in a managerial role, overseeing teams of 20 or more staff.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management, route optimization, warehouse operations, and cold chain handling.
  • Experience working with government or donor-funded projects is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/warehouse management systems, and fleet tracking tools.
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, and crisis management skills.

Responsibilities & Context:

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all logistics, warehousing, and distribution operations of the Primary School Feeding Project across various regions of the country. This role requires hands-on expertise in supply chain execution, fleet management, food handling, and last-mile delivery to ensure safe, timely, and efficient food distribution to schools.

The Operations Manager will play a critical role in aligning the day-to-day field activities with the project’s overall goals, ensuring smooth coordination between warehouse, transport, procurement, and monitoring teams.

Location: Madaridpur, Shariatpur, Netrokona, Sherpur, Mymensingh, Gazipur, Munshigonj, Nawabgonj, Tangail, Manikgonj, Narayangonj District.

Reports To: Head of Operations / CEO

Key Responsibilities:

Distribution & Logistics Management

  • Design and implement weekly delivery plans for food items (bun, boiled egg and fruits) to more than 1,200 schools across all Upazila.
  • Ensure on-time, accurate, and safe delivery of food products Sunday to Thursday.
  • Optimize delivery routes and schedules to minimize cost and maximize efficiency.
  • Supervise drivers, helpers, and hub teams for last-mile distribution.
  • Monitor fleet operations, fuel consumption, maintenance, and tracking systems.

Warehouse & Inventory Control

  • Manage the central warehouse and sub-hubs for receipt, storage, and dispatch of food items.
  • Ensure FIFO (First-In-First-Out) and other inventory management practices to minimize wastage and spoilage.
  • Oversee warehouse supervisors, storekeepers, and packing staff to maintain daily stock records.
  • Implement strict hygiene, food safety, and temperature-control measures.
  • Coordinate with the Supply Chain/Procurement Manager for stock replenishment and vendor deliveries.

Operational Planning & Coordination

  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse, fleet, and distribution functions.
  • Align distribution schedules with school timings, local holidays, and government directives.
  • Work closely with Upazila Coordinators and Monitoring Assistants to confirm receipt of deliveries at school level.
  • Prepare contingency plans for disruptions (flooding, strikes, road blockages, supply delays).

Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Lead and motivate a large operations team including warehouse staff, drivers, helpers, and field coordinators.
  • Conduct training on food handling, safety, fleet discipline, and emergency response.
  • Establish performance KPIs for hubs, drivers, and warehouse operations.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and discipline.

Quality & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure strict adherence to Bangladesh Govt. School Feeding Guidelines and food distribution protocols.
  • Work with the Quality & Compliance Officer to implement food inspection and safety checklists.
  • Enforce compliance with occupational health & safety (OHS) standards at warehouses and during distribution.

Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor distribution progress daily and resolve operational bottlenecks in real time.
  • Submit weekly operational performance reports to the Project Director.
  • Analyze operational costs (transport, labor, fuel, packing) and recommend savings opportunities.
  • Introduce technology-based solutions for fleet tracking, warehouse automation, and field reporting.
