1. Design and develop logical and physical database models based on business requirements and industry best practices
2. Design, develop, and implement database solutions to meet the application’s data storage and retrieval requirements
3. Evaluate database technologies and make recommendations for database architecture, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data warehousing solutions
4. Collaborate with business stakeholders, software developers to understand data requirements and objectives
5. Collaborate with software developers to design database schemas and optimize database queries for performance and scalability
6. Normalize database schemas to reduce redundancy and ensure data integrity
7. Define data structures, relationships, and constraints to optimize database performance and scalability
8. Develop data migration and transformation strategies to facilitate the transition from existing data sources to new database designs
9. Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) and related software
10. Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues such as slow queries, database locks, and resource contention
11. Perform data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues and recommend solutions for data cleansing and validation
12. Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data masking
13. Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
14. Define and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements
15. Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for databases
16. Document data dictionaries, metadata, database designs, configurations, and procedures for reference, knowledge sharing and training purposes
17. Provide technical guidance and support to other team members and stakeholders on database-related matters
18. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in database management
19. Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor
