Educational Requirements:

Job Context:
∎ NRC in Bangladesh: An estimated 905,000 Rohingya refugees currently reside in Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh, over 700,000 of whom fled extreme violence in Myanmar in late 2017. They reside in refugee camps, which are among the most congested camps in the world, with limited access to basic services, including adequate sanitation, healthcare, livelihoods and education.
∎ The refugees have put an immense strain on the Bangladeshi`s living in Cox`s Bazar, however, despite the challenges, the Bangladeshi communities were the first to respond when the Rohingya arrived and generously continue to host the refugees, and many of the local communities are now also in need of support.
∎ NRC has been present in Bangladesh since 2016, working through partnerships with local NGO`s. We have since scaled up our presence in Bangladesh, obtaining legal registration in November 2018, allowing us to better respond to the Rohingya influx. Alongside our partners, we provide assistance to refugees and local communities through Education programming and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) activities.
∎ ACAPS: ACAPS is dedicated to improving analysis of humanitarian needs in complex emergencies and crises. We are independent of specific operational and sectoral agendas or interests, and we provide evidence-based analysis.
∎ Our CrisisInSight team supports the humanitarian community by providing up-to-date information on more than 100 key crises around the globe. This enables crisis responders to better understand and thereby better address the needs of the affected population and strengthen the assessment ecosystem.
∎ Purpose of this position: Contribute to ACAPS` timely analysis of humanitarian crises, thus enabling crisis responders to make better informed decisions. This is an entry-level part-time position for people interested in a career in the humanitarian sector and who are specifically interested in qualitative and quantitative analysis, data collection, and in promoting evidence-based decision making. The data collectors will support the ACAPS analysis by participating in the production of ACAPS data products through secondary data review and data collection.
∎ Contract period: 03 months (extendable)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Conduct monitoring of information on global political, economic, social, and humanitarian developments related to humanitarian crises and contexts in the assigned countries of responsibility.
∎ Gather and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to feed into the INFORM Severity Index, the ACAPS Global Humanitarian Access, the Global Core dataset and other analysis products where appropriate.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Familiarity with Excel (or similar software);
∎ Experience in Secondary Data Review, Desk Review;
∎ Attention to details and ability to receive and implement feedback;
∎ Ability to effectively work within a multi-cultural environment;
∎ Ability to deliver against targets and meeting deadlines within a short timeframe;
∎ Ability to work in team, remotely;
∎ Structured and focused, proven ability to manage time effectively;
∎ Fluency in English;
∎ Any additional language is considered an asset;
∎ Access to a reliable internet connection and IT equipment (laptop) that is powerful enough to support database programs.
Salary:
∎ Tk. 72912 (Monthly)
∎ Salary and Benefits: Monthly salary BDT 72,912 for full-time (40 hours weekly). Payment will be made based on hours worked.
