∎ The Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA) is an Asian labour-led global labour and social alliance across garment producing countries (such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) and consumer regions (USA and Europe) for addressing poverty-level wages, gender discrimination, and freedom of association in global garment supply chains.

∎ Job Description
∎ The Bangladesh Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of country level activities and projects of AFWA and will report to Executive Director, Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS), AFWA`s partner organisation in Bangladesh; as well as AFWA`s South Asia Coordinator and International Secretariat.
∎ Ordinarily, the post-holder will work closely with and as a part of BNPS` team, based in Dhaka city. Given the Covid-19 crisis, work from home might be necessary during certain periods, requiring a strong internet connection.
∎ AFWA is particularly interested in applications from women and persons with diverse identities.
∎ Job status: Full-time; 1-year contract, renewable based upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
∎ Start Date: October 1st, 2021
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Maintain good communication practices with partners in Bangladesh; coordinate project implementation through partners
∎ Provide support to strengthen partners' work through training, research, advocacy, and campaign
∎ Strengthen work with existing partners, and identify potential new partners to expand the AFWA-Bangladesh alliance and collaborative efforts
∎ Support partners in handling global supply chain related labour rights violations that will fall within AFWA's expertise
∎ Coordinate and assist in development and implementation of trainings and research
∎ Conduct documentation as needed; prepare briefs; reports and presentations
∎ Monitor deliverables and expenses for the work assigned; write reports as and when necessary
∎ Contribute to AFWA's campaigns and projects; communication and social media presence
∎ Collaborate with partners in other South Asian and Southeast Asian countries
∎ Work within the AFWA team and perform other relevant duties as required by supervisors
∎ Assist with fundraising and outreach, as needed
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least one year experience working/volunteering with labour rights or human rights organisations
∎ Strong understanding of labour rights and economic justice in a global context
∎ Self-motivated and comfortable working independently within agreed framework while maintaining communication with global team in different time zones and geographies.
∎ Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Bangla
∎ Ability to maintain focus in a multifarious work environment; comfortable with deadlines and field obligations
∎ Experience in research and writing on labour rights and global supply chains; and knowledge of labour movement, a plus.
Salary:
∎ Negotiable
