∎ The GRAUS (Gram UnnayonSangathon) - Organization for Rural Socio-economic Development - began its journey in 1998 with its headquarter in Bandarban Hill District. GRAUS is a non-profit and non-political socio-economic development organization committed to the development of the CHT region through eco-friendly measures for the sustainability of the local environment.
∎ Under the Feed the Future Bangladesh Aquaculture Activity, GRAUS in partnership with WorldFish is implementing "Promoting Aquaculture for Nutrition and Income in Bandarban (PANI)" Project in Bandarban Sadar and Rowangchari Upazila of Bandarban Hill District. Qualified applications are hereby invited to fulfill the following position for improving Value Chain Study on Fish-based Product under GRAUS-PANI Project.
∎ Activity Title: Value Chain Study on Fish-based Product in Cox`s Bazar and Bandarban District.
∎
∎ Study Background:
∎ Value chain study on Fish- based product (Fish paste)
∎ Fish-based product, (Fish paste) is a very popular food item to the local people in Bandarban Hill District. The fish-based product of the production process is carried out through an unhygienic condition that results in poor quality products.
∎ Hence, there is a scope for improving the production technology of fish-based products to supply quality products to the local consumers. Another important thing is that fish-based product is not locally produced in Bandarban as the raw materials are not available in Bandarban District. It`s mainly produced in Cox`s Bazar area. So there is a great scope of marketing hygienic fish-based products and develop value chain actors of fish-based products in Bandarban and develop suitable local entrepreneurs.
∎ A feasibility study on Fish-based product value chain will be carried out by a consultant. In case of fish-paste, the existing production technology will be reviewed and necessary improvements will be incorporated to produce safe, nutritious and hygienic fish-based product and create a strong marketing channel of fish-based product value chain actors in Bandarban.
∎ Consultancy Duration/Period: 30 days (October-November, 2020).
∎ An agreement will be signed between the selected person and GRAUS mentioning all details like-consultancy fee, conveyance, presentations, study schedule, deliverables etc.
∎ Place of Study: Cox`s Bazar and Bandarban
∎ Report Submission: 30 November2020

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Improvement the ways of processing hygienic fish paste.
∎ Find out the scope of marketing hygienic fish based product and channels
∎ Develop a supply chain among value chain actors of Fish based product
∎ Deliverables:
∎ Study report on Value chain study on Fish- based product (Both Hard copy and Soft copy)
∎ Provide presentation on the study report (with DoF, marketing expert, Nutrition Experts, WorldFish Team Leaders, GRAUS Management etc.)
∎ Training Module development on production of hygienic fish based product (Production to marketing) -Soft and hard copy

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 10 years' hands-on experience in the study on value chains developments
∎ Vast experience on hygienic food preservation and production technology
∎ Experience in field of nutrition and food science
∎ Experience in market promotion and develop value chain actors on fish based product
∎ Computer Literacy: Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
∎ Good interpersonal and communication skills with DoF, Donors and others
∎ Excellent report writing and presentation skills

Salary:
∎ Consultancy fee: Total consultancy fee BDT 500,000/= (VAT and Tax to be deducted at source). Payment to be given, after handover of all deliverables or as per stated agreement.
