• Minimum bachelor’s degree in any discipline, preferably in mass communication / Journalism, with a sound academic background (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)

• Knowledge in graphics design, photography and video editing (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe premiere)

• Passionate about developing a career in the humanitarian context

• Proactive and quick learner

• Good oral and written communication skills in English and Bangla, familiarity with local dialect is an asset.

• Ability to multitask and work under pressure amid tight deadlines

Since 2017, IRC has supported Rohingya Refugees and Bangladeshi nationalities communities in Cox's Bazar, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong with integrated services. The organization also addresses climate change impacts by building resilience and promoting economic recovery, education, and protection.

Purpose of the role:

The primary objective of this internship is to provide the intern with practical experience and exposure to communication while supporting the Advocacy and Communication department in achieving its goals.

Department: Assisted Passage Program (APP)

Location: IRC Bangladesh, Cox’s Bazar Office

Internship Duration: 3 Months

Reporting to: Senior Officer - Advocacy & Communication

Expected Start Date: At Earliest

Duties and Responsibilities:

The intern’s responsibilities include:

• Supporting the team by preparing communication content such as banners, fact sheets, brochures and other printable content

• Work on photography, photo editing and video editing ensuring informed consent and privacy protocols are strictly followed.

• Design practical educational materials including:

a) Booklets on safeguarding, travel protocols, prohibited items, and cultural orientation (Do’s and Don’ts).

b) Posters and leaflets on safeguarding, anti-fraud awareness, and reporting mechanisms.

c) Travel kits with essential visual and written guides for beneficiaries.

• Ensure all communication materials align with the organization’s branding guidelines and ethical standards.

• Maintain a consistent visual tone that is respectful, inclusive, and empowering.

Others:

• Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion and cohesion in IRC [team/office]

• Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.

Learning Outcomes:

During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to:

• Gain practical experience in various aspects of development communication, including planning and development of communication content for internal and external audiences

• Improve proficiency in using creative tools such as Adobe photoshop, Illustrator, Premier and Lightroom

• Enhance communication and interpersonal skills through interactions with internal and external stakeholders

• Improve language proficiency through translation services (English-Bangla-English)

• Gain insight into donor reporting and expectations.
