Experience:
Manage and execute end-to-end import operations, including LC opening, Proforma Invoice (PI) review, preparation of Bills of Exchange, and verification of shipping documents.
Manage and coordinate the complete import cycle from documentation and shipment processing through customs clearance and final delivery.
Oversee and expedite customs clearance procedures at major air and sea ports, including Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) and Chittagong Port.
Liaise and maintain regular coordination with C&F agents, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely clearance.
Apply comprehensive knowledge of the Bangladesh Customs Tariff and HS Codes to accurately classify imported products and identify applicable regulatory requirements.
Calculate and verify statutory duties and taxes, including Customs Duty (CD), Regulatory Duty (RD), Supplementary Duty (SD), VAT, Advance Income Tax (AIT), and Advance Tax (AT).
Prepare accurate and detailed landed costing for imported shipments through both air and sea freight, including all applicable duties, taxes, freight, clearing charges, and other related costs.
Maintain accurate landed costing profiles and provide reliable cost information to support accurate retail pricing and commercial decision-making.
Ensure compliance with applicable Bangladesh customs, import, and regulatory requirements for imported food products, cosmetics, perfumes, and other specialized items.
Coordinate and secure mandatory import approvals, statutory sampling, testing, clearances, and certifications from relevant authorities.
Handle regulatory requirements and coordinate with authorities such as BSTI, BAEC, and the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), where applicable.
Ensure timely completion of BSTI clearance and other mandatory regulatory certifications for relevant imported products.
Maintain strong working knowledge of Bangladesh Bank guidelines, Incoterms, customs procedures, and import regulations.
Demonstrate practical understanding of tariff structures and applicable cost components for both air and sea freight shipments.
Maintain and update import-related records, documentation, costing sheets, and compliance information accurately.
Use Microsoft Excel at an advanced/expert level to develop and maintain detailed, multi-variable landed costing models and import-related reports.
Analyze import costs, duties, taxes, freight, clearing charges, and other associated expenses to ensure costing accuracy.
Negotiate and communicate effectively with C&F agents, freight forwarders, shipping lines, suppliers, banks, government authorities, and other external stakeholders.
Coordinate effectively with cross-functional internal departments to ensure smooth and timely execution of import operations.
Ensure all import activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company requirements.
