Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Conduct a thorough inspection of all layer sheds to check bird health, behavior, and mortality rates.
∎ Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation) and adjust as needed.
∎ Check feed and water availability, ensuring proper intake and quality.
∎ Observe any signs of stress, disease, or unusual behavior in birds.
∎ Implement and oversee biosecurity protocols, ensuring strict adherence by all farm workers.
∎ Conduct routine health checks and examine sick or weak birds for early disease detection.
∎ Administer necessary medications, vaccines, and vitamin supplements as per schedule.
∎ Collect samples for laboratory tests if disease symptoms are observed.Isolate and treat infected birds to prevent disease spread.
∎ Maintain accurate records of disease outbreaks, treatments, and mortality rates.
∎ Follow a proper vaccination schedule for disease prevention.
∎ Ensure the correct dosage and administration of medicines and supplements.
∎ Keep a logbook of all vaccinations and medications administered.
∎ Monitor feed quality and consumption rates to ensure balanced nutrition.
∎ Work closely with farm management to adjust feed formulations based on bird age and production cycle.
∎ Identify and address any nutritional deficiencies affecting egg production and bird health.
∎ Track daily egg production rates and assess any abnormalities.
∎ Investigate potential causes of production decline and take corrective actions.
∎ Check eggs for quality issues like shell thickness and internal defects.
∎ Ensure farm workers follow hygiene protocols (proper clothing, footbaths, equipment disinfection).
∎ Control visitor access to prevent disease transmission.
∎ Oversee proper disposal of dead birds and farm waste management.
∎ Maintain daily records of bird health, mortality, feed consumption, egg production, and medication usage.
∎ Prepare weekly and monthly health reports for farm management.Analyze data trends to improve farm performance.
∎ Train farm workers on biosecurity measures, vaccination procedures, and early disease detection.
∎ Guide caretakers on handling sick birds and maintaining hygiene.Conduct regular meetings to address health and management concerns.
∎ Be available for immediate response to disease outbreaks or sudden mortality spikes.
∎ Work with external veterinary specialists if required for advanced treatments.
∎ Implement emergency plans in case of unexpected issues like extreme weather or disease outbreaks.
∎ Communicate regularly with farm owners and managers regarding farm conditions.
∎ Coordinate with suppliers for veterinary medicines, vaccines, and nutritional supplements.
∎ Stay updated on the latest developments in poultry disease management and treatment protocols.
