Job Context:
∎ Location: Based in CARE Bangladesh Dhaka
∎ Duration: Duration of the Contract will be for 1 year, extension dependent upon available resources.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Responsibility # 1: Providing technical support and attract new funds:
∎ The specialist will provide technical support related to climate justice issues to CARE staff in particular:
∎ In the design of proposals for new funding for climate justice related programming or for the integration of climate justice in sectoral initiatives.
∎ To specific on-going initiatives and programs that need support to implement their climate justice activities.
∎ The specialist will coordinate and/or participate in the continued development and updating of core technical content (practitioner guidance and other technical guidance) related to Climate Justice. Particular attention will be given to the tools at the intersection of our humanitarian and climate justice work. The roll out of the Resilience Marker and the use of Climate Justice indicators will be part of this responsibility.
∎ The specialist will contribute to CJC's efforts in attracting new funds and resources, including by working with fundraising staff in CARE members to identify new opportunities for climate programming.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Deep knowledge and experience of at least 7 years on Climate Adaptation and related topics such as early warning systems, anticipatory action, climate information services and disaster risk reduction.
∎ Academic level in the climate change adaptation and resilience area or any closely related area.
∎ Experience in designing / managing and/or implementing climate adaptation initiatives or sectoral initiatives with a strong climate adaptation component.
∎ Excellent training design & facilitation skills.
∎ Knowledge of inclusive, locally-led and gender-transformative approaches to climate adaptation.
∎ Knowledge on working in and with NGO's.
∎ Fluent in English verbally and in writing; Proficiency in Arabic, French or Spanish is a plus
∎ Proactive attitude and willing to further develop knowledge and skills within this specific area
∎ Prepared to travel abroad
∎ Excellent communication skills; intercultural sensitivity towards external contacts; analytical; accurate; flexible; immune to stress; team player and pro-active character.
∎ Computer proficiency in MS words, MS-Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint.
