Job Context
Nari Maitree (NM), a well-established women-led NGO with 42 years of experience in Bangladesh, is implementing the "Together We Lead" project in partnership with UN Women. This project supports positive gender norms among forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya) and host communities in Cox's Bazar, focusing on leadership and agency for women and girls and engagement with men and boys. We invite qualified and committed candidates to join our Cox’s Bazar team and contribute to this important initiative, drawing on Nari Maitree’s extensive experience in development and humanitarian programming.
The Capacity Development Officer will directly strengthen the skills of community-based women leaders, Gender Volunteers, project staff, and focal points across multiple camps and host communities.
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Duty Station: Cox’s Bazar (Ukhiya), with occasional travel to Teknaf and host communities as required
Job Description / Key Responsibilities
Capacity Needs Assessment:
Conduct needs assessments to identify specific capacity gaps and training needs of Gender Volunteers, project staff, women leaders, and community members.
Utilize participatory methods to involve target groups in the needs assessment process.
Curriculum, Materials, and Tools Development:
Develop and adapt training curricula and materials on various topics, including:
Gender equality and women's rights
GBV prevention and response
Leadership and advocacy skills
Community mobilization and engagement
Gender-responsive humanitarian assistanceo Gender-responsive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and emergency response
Ensure that training materials are culturally sensitive, age-appropriate, and accessible.
Integrate PSEA, safeguarding, Do No Harm, disability inclusion, and a survivor-centered approach in all materials, as per project and donor requirements.
Capacity Building Delivery and Facilitation:
Plan, organize, and facilitate training workshops, seminars, and other capacity-building events.
Utilize participatory and interactive training methodologies, such as group discussions, role-playing, and case studies.
Adapt training approaches to different learning styles and contexts.
Mentorship, Coaching, and Follow-up:
Provide ongoing mentorship and coaching to Gender Volunteers and women leaders to support their professional development and application of skills.
Establish peer-to-peer learning mechanisms to foster knowledge sharing and mutual support.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
Develop and implement M&E tools and indicators to measure the effectiveness of capacity-building activities.
Collect and analyze data on training participation, knowledge gain, and behavior change.
Prepare regular reports on capacity development progress and outcomes.
Ensure collection and analysis of sex, age, and diversity disaggregated data.
Support documentation of success stories and lessons learned in coordination with the Reporting Officer.
Coordination and Collaboration:
Coordinate with other project staff, UN Women, and relevant organizations to ensure that capacity-building efforts are integrated into broader project activities.
Build relationships with training institutions and resource persons to access expertise and support.
Support Gender Volunteer safeguarding and compliance with project SOPs.
