Responsibilities & Context:

Psychosocial Support & Trauma Counselling- 50%

  • Perform comprehensive psychological assessments using various diagnostic tools, interviews, and observation techniques to understand the needs, mental health, and emotional well-being of the survivors.

  • Develop clear psychological formulations based on assessment data, considering the survivor`s history, current emotional state, trauma history, and social context.

  • Develop individual treatment plans based on the assessment and formulation, with short- and long-term goals aimed at trauma recovery and mental health improvement.

  • Offer psychological consultation services to learners, volunteers, and staff and other professionals within the organization on how to handle trauma situation, emotional crises and provide trauma-informed care.

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to learners, volunteers, and staff, especially those working directly with survivors, to support manage their stress and prevent burnout.

  • Offer training to volunteers on mental health awareness, coping mechanisms, and managing emotional crises with survivors.

  • Develop and update training materials that equip learners, volunteers, and staff with the knowledge and tools to handle the psychological needs of the survivors, including mental health crises, trauma responses, and communication strategies.

  • Be able to manage a heavy caseload and provide timely interventions, often in emotionally intense or crisis situations, while maintaining professionalism.

Monitoring, Reporting & Data Management- 30%

  • Prepare detailed workplan on a weekly or monthly basis as per the guidance of the line manager, and perform accordingly to improve the learners, volunteers, and staff’s mental health well-being.

  • Provide detailed reports to the management on a weekly and monthly basis regarding the psychological support provided to survivor’s progress, and any challenges encountered.

  • Document and report any notable activities performed, including individual counselling plans, and sessions, group therapy, interventions, and any significant changes in client status.

  • Track and evaluate the progress of survivors through follow-up assessments and sessions, analyzing their emotional and psychosocial development over time.

  • Ensure proper management and documentation of all client-related data, including assessments, counselling plans, progress notes, and any other relevant reports.

Coordination- 10%

  • Work closely with other organizations and service providers (e.g., legal aid, healthcare, mental health support unit) to ensure that survivors receive comprehensive prompt care and support.

  • Facilitate referral mechanisms to specialized services, such as medical care, legal assistance, MHPSS or vocational training, as per the need.

  • Coordinate with other staff members within the shelter, including case managers, social workers, and administrative staff, to ensure smooth delivery of services and that psychosocial needs are addressed.

Others- 10%

  • Participate & involved with seasonal programs (Ramadan, Qurbani, Winterization, etc.) activities.

  • Take initiatives to ensure the security of project staff and participants during the intervention.

  • Willing and able to travel frequently for extended periods and to remote areas of the projects.

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program's goals on safeguarding implementation and as well as Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing safe working environment.

  • Being a member of Islamic Relief as a child-friendly organization, it is the core responsibility and obligation of each staff member to understand and obey the lR Child Protection & PSEA Policy and respond accordingly as and when required.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
