Job Context:
∎ GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for its "IGS- Initiative Global Solidarity" for the position "Advisor- Supply Chain Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Sector".
∎ Band: 4T
∎ Contract Duration: Up to June 2024

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

∎ The position holder:
∎ Lead and implement project activities to improve the sustainability performance of the textile and garment sector with a special focus on social and environmental compliance and standards, due diligence and risk assessment in supply chains, human rights topics
∎ Provide technical advisory and management support to improve the sustainability in the supply chain in close coordination with relevant actors (e.g. private sector, associations, NGOs etc.)
∎ In cooperation with stakeholders from Germany/Europe, develop and plan advisory services for supply chain actors to enhance due diligence and sustainability management in the textile and garment supply chain
∎ Procurement and management of external consultancies to support capacity development measures and to conduct events and stakeholder dialogues
∎ Coordinate and strengthen relationships with senior actors of the private sector and business associations as well as partner organisations from government, academia, with regards to activities and policies promoting a sustainable garment sector in Bangladesh
∎ Other duties/additional tasks:
∎ The position holder:
∎ Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the project activities
∎ Responsible for developing project action plans and to synchronise the planning and budgeting system
∎ Ensure knowledge management: collect, processes and distributes information, monitors communication and interaction between government institutions, NGOs and society through analyses of the media, direct dialogue, participation
∎ Support regional activities in close collaboration with the other partner countries

Additional Requirements:
∎ Profound knowledge of relevant topics and international discussions of sustainability in the supply chain, due diligence, social and environmental standards, preferably in the garment sector
∎ Understanding of relevant capacity development issues in the sector in Bangladesh
∎ Experience in project management and coordination, preferably in the private sector
∎ Excellent communication skills and negotiation experience in complex situations with senior stakeholders from development sector, NGOs, private sector and government, enabling collaboration to achieve joint objectives
∎ Good general understanding of relevant topics in Bangladesh with regard to social sustainability standards
∎ Professional experience:
∎ At least 8 years of professional work experience in related positions of increasing responsibility
∎ At least 3 years experiences working with the private sector and/or third-party certifier and/or development cooperation; experience in the textile/garment and/ or electronics sector and a relevant network would be considered a distinct advantage
∎ Previous job experience in GIZ will be an asset
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Proven ability to work in a team, also in intercultural contexts
∎ Good moderation and facilitation skills;
∎ Excellent verbal and written English and Bengali language skills
