Job Context

Cassiopea Sweaters Ltd (CSL) is a modern knitwear manufacturing facility with advanced machinery and global buyers. We are looking for a Yarn QC In-Charge to lead incoming yarn quality control, ensure proper yarn utilization, and maintain strict lot/shade control to support high-quality production standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. Incoming Yarn Inspection

  • Inspect all incoming yarn (cotton, viscose, blends, fancy yarns)

  • Verify:

    • Count (e.g., 2/20, 2/32, etc.)

    • Composition

    • Shade / color consistency

    • Cone condition (oil stains, damage, contamination)

  • Match with PO, supplier specs, and approved samples


2. Lab Coordination & Testing

  • Coordinate with internal/external lab for:

    • Count verification

    • Strength / twist

    • Color fastness (for dyed yarn)

  • Ensure test results meet required standards before bulk use


3. Shade Band & Lot Control

  • Maintain strict lot-wise segregation

  • Prepare and control shade bands

  • Ensure no mixing of different dye lots in production


4. Yarn Issuance Control

  • Monitor yarn issuance to knitting floor:

    • Correct count and quality per style/gauge

    • Ensure FIFO / lot discipline

  • Coordinate closely with Store and Knitting teams


5. Defect Identification & Reporting

  • Identify yarn defects such as:

    • Uneven thickness

    • Knots, slubs, contamination

    • Shade variation

  • Prepare Yarn Defect Reports (YDR)

  • Coordinate with Merchandising for supplier claims


6. Documentation & Record Keeping

  • Maintain:

    • Incoming inspection reports

    • Test reports

    • Lot/shade tracking records

  • Ensure all records are audit-ready


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Textile Engineering preferred)

  • Minimum 5–8 years experience in knitwear/sweater factory

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Yarn types (cotton, viscose, blends, fancy yarns)

    • Yarn count systems (e.g., Ne, ply yarns)

    • Shade and lot control

  • Experience with lab testing and quality standards

  • Good communication and reporting skills
