Job Context:
∎ KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
∎ The Upazila Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of all field work at his/her allocated Upazila. He/she will work under the supervision and guidance of Project Manager, IDF.
∎ Job Location: Upazila level (Mohalchari and Laxmichari) in Khagrachari District.
∎ Reporting to: Project Manager
Job Responsibilities:
∎ GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ The Upazilla Coordinator will be responsible to implement all project activities at the Upazilla level.
∎ He/she will be responsible for making liaison and communication with concern authorities and local people.
∎ To support different social local organizations related to health and nutrition.
∎ To provide suggestion and advise to concern authorities and persons to make the project work smooth and effective.
∎ Reporting to project director about the need and progress of the project activities.
∎ COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ Coordinate and monitor capacity building on nutrition sensitive programming of all UP chairman; Health & Family Planning, welfare of women, social welfare & sanitation standing committee members; disaster committee; CSG; Headman; Karbari.
∎ Coordinate and monitor development of Local radio messaging in local dialects ( Need to develop local radio messing focus on Chittagong Language) and see its implementation
∎ Coordinate and support local artists, folk singers and theatre groups to promote nutrition and WASH messaging in community events.
∎ Promoting Tippy Tap (Low cost hand washing device) at community and schools.
∎ Orientation/ sensitization to Primary Teacher Training institute staff on inclusion of nutrition and WASH in Little Doctor scheme
∎ Orient School Management Committee on nutrition; Promote Blue School Concept (Environment Friendly school - gardening, fruit tree planting with WASH and Hygiene Behavior)
∎ Develop student Brigade on nutrition by the students and organize school based nutrition fair. Facilitate private sector to demonstrate innovative nutrition activities in school science fair with competition
∎ Arranging Essay writing competition and school debate on nutrition and health
∎ Identify and train nutrition champions from Hill District Councils/ local elite/ CSOs
∎ Identify and train women entrepreneurs to establish WBCs
∎ Support PPI platform to implement the plan and strategies to address issues in nutrition value chains. Coordinate validation workshops with value chain actors and stakeholders on assessment and findings
∎ Organise exchange visits for LSPs on innovative technologies and approaches and organise training for LSPs on gender analysis in value chain, and women economic empowerment (WEE)
∎ LIAISON AND COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ Attend Union Parishad and standing committee coordination meetings to strengthen collaboration and priorities sensitization of female members as change makers for nutrition;
∎ Participate in the International day ( World Health Day, World Food Day, Hand Washing Day, Menstruation Day, National Immunization Day and week , month ( Breast Feeding ) observations through fairs and community events at the Upazila level report back to Upazila Coordinator
∎ Attend Upazila MCH (mother and child health) coordination meetings to integrate nutrition in budget and promote the target activities;
∎ Support adolescent clubs with a focus on girls and nominate nutrition champions from communities and Hill District Councils to lead nutrition sensitive activities;
∎ Establish collaboration with Department of Youth Development/ Department of Agriculture/Department of Women Affairs Extension/Department of Livestock and Fishery
∎ Identify, reactivate and train existing adolescent clubs on nutrition and gardening and sanitation
∎ Demonstration on gardening for clubs with private sector engagement
∎ Selection of Local Service Providers (LSP) with focus on inclusion of women for specific sectors.
∎ ADVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ Strengthen Famer Information and Advice Centres and Union Digital Centres
∎ Mobilise Public Private Initiative (PPI) Platform and address issues to promote nutrition sensitive value chain
∎ Facilitate building upazila level Service Providers Association (SPA)
∎ Support private companies, entrepreneurs and LSPs to establish production zones and collection points
∎ Facilitate LSPs and private sector to participate in the agriculture and development fair and demonstrate best practices.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 4 years diversified experience on project coordinator focusing on nutrition, livelihoods, and health related projects.
∎ Able to show experience of working with an INGO, EU-funded projects and knowledge
∎ Experience of working in the Chittagong Hill Tracts is essential.
∎ Professional and clear written and oral communication skills both in English & Bangla.
∎ Depth knowledge on program aspect, and Administration,
∎ Good command on MS-Office (MS word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
∎ Strong background in leadership, community engagement and relationship building.
∎ Excellent, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
∎ Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
∎ Ability to work independently and in a team
∎ Excellent public speaking and facilitation skills
∎ Ability to work a flexible work schedule
∎ Willingness to travel to, and work in, remote areas for extended periods of time
∎ Supportive and committed to work for vulnerable groups, Values oriented and Gender sensitive.
