Responsibilities & Context:

Job Purpose

The person in this role will provide knowledge, management communications and documentation support to Disaster Risk Management Programme. He/she will be responsible for ensuring the capturing and promotion of programme’s learnings and creating comprehensive knowledge management and communication networks on disaster risk reduction, resilience building and humanitarian response. He/she will also support the programme for fund mobilization and reporting. This is a contrcatual position.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge Management

  • Ensure compliance of activities with the programme’s knowledge management and communication strategic framework by following BRAC’s communication guidelines.
  • Identify the knowledge management and communication needs of the programme and develop appropriate tools.
  • Capture learnings of various programme interventions and projects through lessons learned workshops, field visit and community consultation, case stories, etc. and document for wider dissemination.
  • Conduct research on programme’s interventions and achievements, and develop strategic documents, publications or other forms of knowledge and communication materials such as reports, learning briefs, updates, newsletters, press releases, advisories, factsheets, presentations, videos, posters, and social media contents.
  • Undertake sporadic field visits to observe programme implementation, liaise closely with target groups and develop impact stories for public dissemination.
  • Assist in conducting advocacy and awareness raising campaigns, events, information dissemination workshops, etc.
  • Take lead in development and dissemination of knowledge and communication materials to relevant stakeholders providing a steady flow of news and stories for website/publications, keeping partners aware of the programme’s work.
  • Coordinate with BRAC’s central Communication Department and provide necessary inputs and information to keep the programme’s and emergency response websites and other information portals up-to-date.

Communication, Networking, and Outreach

  • Develop plans for communication and outreach for the programme and expand the programme’s outreach accordingly.
  • Maintain strong liaise and communication with relevant government agencies, development partners, electronic and print media, etc.
  • Establish strategic partnership and networks with knowledge-based organisations and institutions to facilitate access to emerging knowledge, innovations, and evidences.
  • Work collaboratively with programmes/departments across the BRAC to increase programme visibility. Liaise and maintain relationships with BRAC Communication Department to better amplify programme messaging.
  • Take lead in observation of national and international days related to disaster management and humanitarian response and ensure the showcasing and dissemination of programme’s achievements through relevant national and international media and networks.
  • Coordinate to promote youth engagement in disaster risk reduction and humanitarian actions.
  • Represent BHP in different forums and networks across BRAC as well as BRAC in different external forums and networks related to disaster management and humanitarian response.
  • Develop and implement budget for knowledge management and communication related activities, events, and documentation.

Documentation

  • Coordinate communication activities and events such as workshops, conferences, trainings of the programme, support documentation and develop proceedings, minutes, and reports.
  • Maintain documentation management system and ensure programme’s publications are collected, registered, and shared through online and social media networks.

Fund raising promotional materials and reporting

  • Provide support for fund raising in terms of exploring funding opportunities; development of project proposals and concept notes; liaise and collaboration with donors; etc.
  • Take lead in development of disaster-specific emergency situation reports and ensure the timely dissemination among policy makers, donor community, development partners, humanitarian clusters, etc.
  • Contribute in development of project progress and completion reports, donor reports, donor compliance reports, etc.
  • Provide technical support/input in developing and updating of the programme’s strategic documents, frameworks, guidelines, operating procedures, training and capacity building materials, etc.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
