Educational Requirements:
∎ Minimum of Bachelor Degree in English, Social Sciences or relevant degree.
Job Context:
∎ Mission: The Translator provides written translation services to the project. S/he listens to audio programmes produced in Rohingya and local language and provides a written translation into English, ensuring accuracy and professionalism in the translation. S/he reports any language problems to the Production Manager. S/he is able to work quickly and efficiently in developing written translations and advising on correct use of language in both Rohingya/ Local language and English.
∎ Reporting Relationship: S/he will be reportable to Production Manager
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Production Translation:
∎ Translate finished audio programs from Rohingya &/or local language into English using MSWord.
∎ Produce a high quality translation script for review.
∎ Make adjustments as requested
∎ Translate training documents as needed
∎ Monitoring and evaluation:
∎ Participate in translating survey information and other information from English into Rohingya, Chittagonian or Bangla.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Demonstrated experience working as a translator, with strong references
∎ Excellent knowledge of the MS Office suite of software
∎ High level language fluency in reading and writing in Rohingya, Chittagonian, Bangla and English
∎ Experience with community-led development projects
∎ Knowledge of issues facing Rohingya in Bangladesh
∎ Can work alone; motivated, good organizational skills
∎ Language: Both Rohingya and local Cox's Bazar dialect is required; Bangla and English fluency is also required.
Salary:
∎ BDT 45,000/- (Consolidated)
