A. Summary of Project
RDRS Bangladesh has been implementing an emergency response program titled “RDRS Emergency Response Program (RERP)” in Rohingya camps and nearby host communities in Cox’s Bazar district since 2019. The RERP contributes to international efforts to meet the humanitarian and protection needs and increase self-reliance and resilience of the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) and host communities through Income Generating Activities (IGAs), tree plantation, life skills with livelihoods, and leadership development training. RERP also works on capacity building of youth and creates market linkage to improve their living standard. This program also aims at cultivating social cohesion, ensuring social inclusion, promoting reforestation, and providing humanitarian support (i.e., food and non-food items, WASH, health, protection, etc.) to the FDMNs as well as the nearby host communities.
B. Summary of Position
Under the overall responsibility and control of the Team Leader (RERP), the Technical Officer (Environment Protection) will be responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating food security & adaptation of climate change initiatives within the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the food security needs, vulnerabilities, and rights of individuals, particularly women, children, persons with disabilities, and youth. The technical officer will work closely with volunteers and relevant stakeholders to arrange training for the vulnerable populations.
C. Description of Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of this position are as follows:
She/he will—
Plan the program implementation timeline under the guidance of the project manager.
Implement the activities—especially livelihood and environmental restoration components (tree plantation)—as per the plan.
Develop and implement strategies to assess the needs of vulnerable individuals of the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities.
Coordinate with the respective UNO, CiC, Site Development, and Site Management Offices for implementing each activity.
Visit the field four (04) days a week
Manage the Field Office as well as the RDRS Center in the camp
Maintain communication with stakeholders to implement the activities of tree plantation.
Prepare monthly progress reports for the RDRS Unit Office as well as the respective UNO and CiC Offices.
Assess and identify risks, vulnerabilities, and gaps in existing community engagement mechanisms through FGD, KII, and survey.
Ensure effective communication and coordination with external partners to enhance the synergy of efforts in the field.
Any other activities as instructed by the project manager.
Festival bonus will be paid according to the project budget & Organizational Policy.
