• Relevant working experience on the arts & crafts. Relevant working experience in Handicraft sub-sector with PKSF or any project funded by multi-lateral development partners with similar nature will be given preference.
• Knowledge on resource efficiency, product diversification, certification, environment, climate change and vulnerability will be an added advantage
• Practical knowledge and experiences in training modules, leaflets, case stories, etc. development.
• Ability to work in a team and with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good computer knowledge (MS office and relevant applications).

RDRS Bangladesh is going to implement a sub-project titled Promoting Sustainable Growth for High-Value Handicraft through RECP Practices’ as a part of the ‘Sustainable Microenterprise and Resilient Transformation (SMART)’ project. This sub-project aims to increase resource-efficient and resilient green growth of microenterprises (MEs) under High value-handicrafts sub-sector. The project is jointly financed by the World Bank and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), Bangladesh.

The ‘Technical & Marketing Officer’ recruited under the High value-handicrafts sub-project will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and will undertake the following duties and responsibilities, which are essential but not limited to:

Design & Innovation

• Create innovative concepts and design products blending traditional and modern handicraft techniques.

• Conduct design trend research and translate insights into new handcrafted product ideas.

• Experiment with sustainable materials and production techniques, including upcycled/recycled material integrations and environmentally friendly processes.

Artisan Collaboration & Production

• Collaborate with artisans to develop prototypes merging craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.

• Build strong connections with local artisans and craft communities.

• Provide technical guidance to artisans for scaling prototypes to batch production.

• Document traditional and modern craftsmanship methods for consistent replication and training.

• Conduct workshops to enhance artisans` design skills and introduce new techniques/tools.

• Monitor quality and resolve production issues while maintaining craftsmanship integrity.

Project Management & Business Strategy

• Oversee project timelines, resource planning, and production schedules.

• Act as a central point of coordination among design teams, artisans, suppliers, and clients.

• Identify new market opportunities (both online and offline) for handcrafted products, both locally and globally.

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, monitoring, and supervising project implementation.

• Assist in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports.

• Perform any other tasks or duties assigned by the Project Manager/management.
