- MS Excel, Word (reporting & documentation)

- Knowledge of SAP2000, Revit Structure (added advantage)

- Strong understanding of BNBC, ACI, ASCE, AISC, and other relevant codes

- Field assessment and site inspection experience

- Report writing and drawing preparation skills

- Team player with strong communication abilities

✅ Responsibilities of a Structural Engineer (Detail Engineering Assessment Focus)

1. Structural Design & Detailing

- Perform detailed design and analysis of RCC and steel members (beams, slabs, columns, shear walls, braces, trusses, connections).

- Design foundation systems (shallow, deep, raft, pile) based on soil report.

- Design structural retrofitting or strengthening if DEA shows deficiencies.

- Ensure compliance with applicable codes: BNBC, ACI, ASCE, UBC, IS, AISC, etc.

2. Detail Engineering Assessment (DEA)

- Conduct structural assessment of existing buildings per BNBC, Accord, RSC, or Alliance standards.

- Review as-built drawings; verify discrepancies through site measurements.

- Identify non-conformities: load path issues, under-reinforced members, overstressed areas, inadequate bracing.

- Run DEA models in ETABS/STAAD to check for overstressed conditions under gravity/seismic/wind loads.

- Prepare DEA reports with recommendations (retrofitting, reduction of loading, occupancy change, etc.).

3. Structural Analysis & Software

- Build and analyze structural models in ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, Robot, or RAM Connection.

- Perform linear, nonlinear, response-spectrum, and time-history analysis if required.

- Check torsional irregularities, lateral stability, and storey drift.

4. Drawing & Documentation

- Prepare or validate structural working drawings and reinforcement detailing.

- Review and cross-check shop drawings, bar bending schedules (BBS), and connection details for steel.

- Ensure drawing compliance with DEA findings and recommendations.

5. Site Inspection & Verification

- Conduct on-site investigation to validate structural conditions.

- Perform concrete core tests, rebar scanning, UPV/rebound hammer tests (if needed).

- Check load paths, support conditions, and anchorage issues.

- Monitor retrofitting execution as per DEA outcomes.

6. Technical Reporting

- Prepare detailed DEA reports including:

- Executive summary

- Structural adequacy summary

- Design load vs. capacity charts

- Drawings and retrofit proposals (if needed)

- Present findings to RMG clients, compliance bodies, or internal management.

7. Structural Design & Analysis

- Design RCC and steel structures using codes (BNBC, ACI, IS, AISC).

- Perform structural analysis using software (ETABS, STAAD Pro, SAFE, SAP2000).

Coordination & Compliance*

- Coordinate with architects, MEP, and geotechnical engineers.

- Adhere to compliance audit requirements (RSC/Accord/Alliance/RCC guideline).

8. Preparation of Drawings

- Prepare design/drawing details (GA, reinforcement, connection details).

- Coordinate with architectural and MEP teams to avoid clashes.

9. Site Coordination

- Provide technical support during construction.

- Review and approve structural works as per drawings/specs.

10. BOQ & Estimation

- Prepare structural BOQs and quantity estimations for steel and concrete.

11. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain design calculation sheets, reports, and drawing logs.

- Communicate with clients, contractors, and consultants.
