• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor or Public Area Supervisor in an Upper-Upscale / Five-Star hotel.

• Strong knowledge of Public Area and Housekeeping operations in an upscale/Five-Star hotel environment.

• Good understanding of Rooms Division and overall hotel operations.

• Working knowledge of hotel property management systems.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, chemicals, equipment and public-area maintenance.

• Strong organizational, coordination and task-delegation skills.

• Excellent guest service and guest relationship management skills.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making abilities.

• Good financial and cost-control awareness.

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

• Ability to mentor, motivate and lead a team effectively.

• Well-groomed, organized, focused and professional personality with strong attention to detail.

The Public Area Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness, hygiene, presentation and upkeep of the hotel's public areas and designated back-of-house areas.

The position will supervise Public Area Attendants, allocate duties, monitor cleaning schedules, conduct regular inspections and ensure all assigned areas consistently meet the hotel's Five-Star standards. The Supervisor will also coordinate with Engineering for maintenance issues and respond promptly to guest and operational requirements.

As public areas create both the first and lasting impression of the hotel, the position requires strong attention to detail, effective supervision and a high commitment to cleanliness and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day cleaning and maintenance of all assigned public areas and designated back-of-house areas.

• Ensure lobbies, corridors, elevators, washrooms, restaurants' public areas, meeting spaces and other guest-accessible areas are maintained to Five-Star standards.

• Supervise and guide Public Area Attendants and ensure proper allocation of daily duties.

• Prepare and monitor cleaning schedules according to occupancy, business volume and operational requirements.

• Conduct regular inspections of public areas to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, presentation and proper upkeep.

• Ensure high-traffic areas receive additional attention during peak operating periods.

• Monitor the availability and proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, tools and other supplies.

• Maintain proper control of housekeeping equipment and report any loss, damage or malfunction.

• Coordinate with Engineering regarding maintenance defects and follow up until satisfactory resolution.

• Respond promptly to guest requests and operational requirements related to public areas.

• Ensure proper placement and presentation of furniture, fixtures, signage and other public-area elements.

• Monitor hygiene standards in public washrooms and other high-use areas.

• Maintain proper records, checklists and inspection reports as required.

• Support the implementation of health, safety, hygiene and environmental standards.

• Train, coach, mentor and motivate Public Area Attendants to maintain consistent service standards.

• Coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Engineering and other departments for smooth hotel operations.

• Assist in maintaining departmental cost control and minimizing wastage of cleaning materials and supplies.

• Support the pre-opening activities and operational setup of the Public Area function.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the management.
