∎ About the project:
∎ Social Action of Voluntary Efforts (SAVE) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. The organization has undertaken a program titled Development of Community Arts Against Rohingya Genocide Project in Bangladesh funded by International Coalition of Sites of Conscience (ICSC), focused on truth-telling activities through arts and crafts, which not only help prepare individuals/communities for more intensive truth-telling processes such as documentation, skill building on arts and crafts, but also supports ongoing healing and resilience-building. This initiative will create an impact in the Rohingya camps to foster collective truth-telling and break some of the silences that have resulted from the trauma of violence and forced displacement.
∎ Job Purpose:
∎ SAVE, is now looking for an experienced Psychosocial Support Officer to carry out the psychosocial support needs under the project titled Development of Community Arts Against Rohingya Genocide Project in Bangladesh.
∎ The employee has to work with the Bangladeshi core team and artists as well as Rohingya artists and community participants in the refugee camps. Hence, working experience in community level especially in humanitarian context is a priority.
∎ The eligible candidate must have a clear understanding of creative and participatory processes and willing to work with artists; both Bangladeshi and Rohingya.
∎ The candidate must abide by the work ethics and organizational philosophy of SAVE.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Design and develop PSS training modules, contents and activities
∎ Implement and coordinate PSS systems and activities with the project team
∎ Implement and coordinate community based PSS systems and capacity building activities with Rohingya team, community artists and participants
∎ Capture and maintain up to date records of PSS interventions and activities
∎ Promote networking with stakeholders and improving the referral network
∎ Understanding of the impact and dynamics against FDMN lives
∎ Maintain confidentiality and respect for clients is mandatory
∎ Support survivors of physical and mental torture, gender-based violence (GBV), and war trauma with psycho-social support (PSS) and psychological first aid (PFA), and to the sufferers of natural disasters when necessary
∎ Plan, facilitate and provide culturally and age-appropriate psychosocial Support and positive coping mechanisms activities.
∎ Focusing on improving the Rohingya participant's psychosocial health by implementing psychosocial activities and consultations on a regular basis.
∎ Conduct both group and individual counselling sessions to encourage clients to discuss emotional issues and experiences.
∎ Excellent communication and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with FDMNs of all ages, background diversity. Strengths in listening, empathy, flexibility and creativity.
∎ Individual/ collaborative work with FDMN/ FDMN families and other support systems to help them be involved in supporting the mental wellbeing of the beneficiary
∎ Contribute to developing and continuously updating a service mapping system detailing available services and assistance in our areas of operation.
∎ Support project team efficiently and maintain referral of cases according to service mapping confidentially.
∎ Encourage self-care of both Rohingya participants and team members through psychosocial support activities.
∎ Documentation Management Responsibilities:
∎ Provide bi-weekly reports on the context in Bangladesh and in the camps.
∎ Provide monthly activity reports psychosocial supports and progress.
∎ Assess, evaluate and report on the improvement of psychological health of individual and/or group.
∎ Document PSS activities and sessions through photography and videography.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Only males are allowed to apply
∎ Fluency in English and Bangla required, with proficiency and clear understanding of local language is an asset.
∎ At least three years of professional experience of working in a humanitarian or human rights context.
∎ Strong knowledge of and experience in applying international human rights standards and practices, with an understanding of the Rohingya context.
∎ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team management skills.
∎ Ability to work independently, taking initiative, and prioritizing tasks effectively
∎ Good skills with camera in photography, videography and editing as a full production.
∎ Previous experience of managing and disseminating tasks with small teams, teaching and mentoring community people
∎ Understanding of cultural diversity
∎ Experience and/or knowledge of basic ethnographic research with refugee communities
∎ Experience in producing work plans, setting goals and writing reports
∎ Working knowledge of MS Office and MS excel
∎ Knowledge of arts and design is an asset
∎ Having attention for detail and ability to solve problems in creative ways
∎ Show sensibility while working with refugees
∎ Ability to work under pressure and out-of-working hours
∎ Experience in delivering workshops to women and young girls
∎ Good understanding of new technologies and digital platforms
