Educational Requirements:
∎ Post-Graduate is required, ideally in a related field such as Disaster Management, Social Science, Development Studies, Urban and Rural Planning, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related subject. Educational requirements can be relaxed for most deserving candidates.
Job Context:
∎ Role of this Position: To provide leadership, management, administrative and logistic support and guidance to the staff of upazila team members so that they will be able to implement planned activities on timely manner with high level of quality and achieve the goal and objectives of the project. To support and ensure organizational policy, mission and vision as well as uphold gender norms and values in the working area.
∎ Project Summary: Strengthening Emergency Preparedness and building infrastructure for Disaster Vulnerable Communities in Bangladesh (STEP & BuildIn) Project is aiming to improve the life and livelihood status of the vulnerable people by focusing on (i) Strengthening knowledge, response and recovery capacity of different stakeholders (ii) Reducing the disaster risk through improving physical structure and providing improve adaptive services to the community and (iii) Reducing the vulnerability of the community people through providing improved and alternative livelihoods
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Ensuring project activities are being implemented following the agreed guidelines/ policies, within the timeline.
∎ Taking actions to internalize project goals, objectives, activities, results and indicators.
∎ Assisting the project management team in developing training modules/ guidelines/ technical papers.
∎ Making plans for the capacity building of the community for disaster preparedness and taking actions to implement plans.
∎ Co-ordinate with relevant persons and organizations for the smooth implementation of the structural based activities and keep updated with the higher management.
∎ Take action to complete the actions and ensure the sustainability of the structure through consultation with the community and other relevant authorities.
∎ Critically assess the measures taken by the project for enhancing food security and suggesting better options (in any) within the project framework.
∎ Identify options to reduce the freshwater scarcity for drinking purposes and actions to reduce the crisis.
∎ Ensuring equal participation of women and men at all levels of project activities.
∎ Contributing to mainstreaming gender at the organization and community level.
∎ Influencing policy and decision makers, to review policy papers focusing on the vulnerable groups.
∎ Checking and approving income and expenditure vouchers and monthly financial statement as per cash flow budget and properly advised to the Accounts Section.
∎ Ensuring that the Financial Manual and Guidelines are followed to ensure good governance and accountability of resources received and utilized.
∎ Preparing monthly and quarterly (donor's report) progress reports and submitting them to the Project Coordinator/ Manager-MEAC on time.
∎ Writing case studies and assisting in capturing documentaries and coverage in local media with the endorsement from the Project Coordinator.
∎ Perform any other task assigned by the management on organization and project management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 30 to 50 years
∎ Physically and mentally strong, Sound good health, Smart, Energetic and able to work in all situations and environments.
∎ Minimum Five Years of working experience in a similar type of position in the development sector focusing on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation, community-based organization management, and improving livelihoods of the community people.
∎ Skills in leadership, management, communication, negotiation and decision-making.
∎ Managing staff and office independently for operating a diversified program.
∎ Good interpersonal relationships, motivating capacity, counseling, and team-building skills.
∎ Skills in participatory planning, budgeting, implementing, and monitoring of disaster management and/or climate change-related projects at the grass-root level with knowledge in using PRA tools and techniques.
∎ Ability to write good reports and presentations.
∎ Can operate a computer. Driving a motorcycle with a valid driving license.
∎ Willingness to stay and operate projects in remote areas.
Salary: Tk. 55000 - 60000 (Monthly)
