QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Completion of University Degree (Bachelor`s or equivalent) is required. Education in International Development, Law, Gender Studies, Human Rights, Political / Social Sciences or any other relevant subject is preferred.

Experience: At least 6 years of experience in Protection, Gender, GBV, PSEA and Disability Inclusion in Emergency/Humanitarian Context or in Development Programmes or in any related field.

Language: Fluency in spoken and written both in English and Bangla language.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (Gender, Protection and Inclusion), the Programme Associate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Analyze changes in the operational context that impact gender dynamics, protection risks faced by affected populations, and their ability to access information, provide feedback, or file complaints.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in WFP programming to maximize outcomes in gender, protection, and accountability—promoting gender equality and transformation, and mitigating risks, including those related to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA).

  • Provide support and strengthen capacity of WFP staff, cooperating partners, contractors, and other stakeholders for the effective integration of Gender, Protection, and Inclusion (GPI) in their work.

  • Represent WFP in inter-agency coordination platforms and other external forums; maintain collaborative relationships with actors mandated in gender and protection.

  • Document GPI results and contributions for ad hoc, mid-year, and annual reports; contribute inputs for the Annual Country Report (ACR), Annual Performance Plan (APP) reviews, and showcase achievements in gender equality across WFP programmes.

  • Provide technical support to programme and functional units on beneficiary data protection and privacy impact assessments.

  • Support the application of the Gender and Age Marker (GAM) at both the design and monitoring stages of all programmes.

  • Conduct and support capacity assessments and performance evaluations of new and existing cooperating partners to evaluate their ability to address protection, gender, accountability, and PSEA requirements.

  • Actively contribute to advocacy efforts on women’s empowerment, gender equality, disability inclusion, and prevention of gender-based violence, in collaboration with UN agencies, government stakeholders, and WFP field offices—this includes developing concept notes, IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials, messages, budgets, event planning, and participating in brainstorming sessions.

  • Facilitate PSEA assessments for NGOs and enhance the capacity of NGO staff on PSEA, in accordance with international standards and organizational policies

  • Ensure proper documentation and knowledge sharing of advocacy initiatives and campaign outcomes for dissemination within WFP’s global networks.

  • Carry out any additional responsibilities or assignments as delegated by the supervisor.
