Responsibilities & Context:

ESDO was established in 1988 with the aim of supporting poor and marginalized people affected by the devastating flood and gradually moving towards achieving a broader vision of achieving sustainable, secured, and resilient livelihoods for these poor and marginalized people through improving their overall sustainable development. For the last more than three and a half decades of its development journey, ESDO has set an outstanding example of a sustainable development model for the underprivileged communities of Bangladesh. ESDO has been working in the country's primarily unserved and underserved locations, nurturing a community-focused participatory approach and people's ownership. Consequently, the ESDO's working area has already established an enabling environment. We have made notable achievements in livelihood improvement, food security and nutrition, education, women's empowerment, health, the promotion of children's rights, adolescent and youth engagement, and the rights of ethnic minorities. During this long span, we have adapted to the changing situation and provided the most time-bound effective services, especially to the poor and disadvantaged people. Considering the government's development policies, we are currently implementing a considerable number of projects and programs, including a microfinance program, through a community-focused and people-centered approach to accomplish the government's development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN as a whole. One of the most dynamic organizations, ESDO, is expanding its development interventions across 422 upazilas under 56 districts of Bangladesh, thereby reaching over 15.73 million impoverished and vulnerable individuals.

The Management Trainee – Accounts will support the Finance & Accounts Department in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with donor and organizational policies, and assisting in financial reporting for various development projects of ESDO. The position is designed to develop future finance professionals through hands-on training and practical exposure.

ESDO is inviting applications from interested qualified candidates for the following position. Women are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Record Keeping

  • Maintain daily financial transactions (cash book, bank book, ledger posting).

  • Assist in preparing vouchers and ensure proper documentation.

  • Verify bills, invoices, and supporting documents.

2. Budget & Financial Monitoring

  • Assist in tracking project budgets and expenditures.

  • Support variance analysis between budgeted and actual expenses.

  • Ensure expenses are within approved project budgets.

3. Payment Processing

  • Assist in processing payments (cash, bank, mobile financial services).

  • Prepare payment vouchers and maintain proper approval procedures.

  • Ensure timely disbursement of staff salaries, vendor payments, and allowances.

4. Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Support donor financial reporting as per guidelines.

  • Maintain financial data for audit and management review.

5. Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with ESDO financial policies and donor requirements.

  • Assist in internal and external audit processes.

  • Maintain proper filing and documentation for audit purposes.

6. Bank & Cash Management

  • Assist in bank reconciliation statements.

  • Monitor cash balances and ensure safe custody of funds.

  • Support fund transfer and banking activities.

7. Inventory & Asset Support

  • Assist in maintaining asset registers and inventory records.

  • Verify stock and assets periodically.

8. Learning & Development

  • Participate in training sessions on financial management systems.

  • Learn and apply accounting software (e.g., Tally, ERP systems).

  • Develop understanding of NGO financial compliance and donor regulations.
