Job Context:
∎ The Palliative Care Assistant is responsible to ensure providing end of life care and support to patients suffering from terminal illness such as cancer or other life-limiting health conditions,
∎ Managing pain and other distressing symptoms, will offer emotional, spiritual and psychological support for the patient, family and friends under supervision of Palliative Care Specialist.

∎ Expected Start Date: At Earliest
∎ Contract length: Up to December 31, 2022 (With possibility of Extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
∎ Under the guidance of the Palliative Care Specialist, Palliative Care Assistant will be responsible for Providing Services as follows:
∎ Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
∎ Patient history taking and taking vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height) and record information on patients' charts.
∎ Has knowledge of commonly - used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field.
∎ Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions.
∎ Work with a patient and his or her family to identify, control or alleviate physical and emotional discomfort and other symptoms that often accompany serious health condition.
∎ Will focus their time on providing expert management of patient's symptoms under supervision of palliative care specialist.
∎ To link patients, caregivers and family members to available support groups and other services.
∎ Improve access to helpful information so patients can make well-informed, confident decisions about their care.
∎ Managing pain control, alleviation of psychosocial distress, provide support for spiritual concerns and meet the practical needs of the patient throughout the continuum of health care.
∎ Improving of patients and his or her family access to information that can help them to understand the patients' condition.
∎ Assess the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination and investigation.
∎ Health & Safety
∎ Comply with established health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances. Comply with current NZ legislation.
∎ IPC Management and others
∎ Monitor triage, early recognition and source control.
∎ Supervise instrument processing.
∎ Monitor waste management in the hospital.
∎ Contribute in ensuring the safeguarding in the organization
Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Experience in health related programs.
∎ 1-2 years of experience of working in palliative care department will get the preference.
∎ Knowledge and experience with working in the field, public health sector and in medical emergencies. Experience with refugee health will be an added advantage.
∎ Ability to work effectively under pressure in hardship situations and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
∎ Previous experience in development project at an international organization is an advantage.
∎ Ability to work independently under minimal supervision & excellent interpersonal skills.

Salary:
∎ As per RI National Pay Scale Policy in Bangladesh

∎ Severance (8.33% of the monthly Gross salary) goes with the monthly release of the salary
