Job Context:
∎ FH Association (a Christian, relief & development organization) wants to fill three (3) Officer- Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) positions and therefore, inviting applications from eligible candidates
∎ The Officer- DRR is responsible for organizing and implementing the organization`s various DRR related activities to achieve goals and objectives in the DRR project in Ukhiya. S/he does the main nurturing work of basic groups and leaders of the community by following vision and values to help groups achieve their God given potential for self-reliance and capacity building.
∎ Type of Job : Contractual
∎ Report to : Manager- Area Program
∎ Location : Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Form, facilitate and develop various types of (community leaders, volunteers, youngsters, women and children);
∎ Facilitate various DRR awareness lessons and monitor literacy;
∎ Identify DRR gaps and increase understanding at the community level;
∎ Develop awareness building materials for DRR for different stakeholders;
∎ Share and initiate innovative ideas and encourage participants to break the poverty barrier;
∎ Help participants to build their capacity, identify local resources and use their own capital;
∎ Conduct DRR hazard mapping in the community;
∎ Train community women on gender based DRR program;
∎ Identify training gaps through participatory process;
∎ Participate in and support M&E staff conduct baseline study/quarterly survey for implementing new project or evaluation;
∎ Coordinate with Manager- DRR, Officer- M&E DRR and Animators to complete monthly/yearly reports on time;
∎ Carry out other tasks assigned by the MAP that are business critical to achieve Area Program goals related to DRR.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years of experience in disaster management in an INGO/NGO context.

∎ Excellent people skills including warmth and sensitivity, conversational, able to relate to and effectively communicate with people from different cultures (at various levels within the organization);
∎ Strong technical skills related to disaster risk reduction and climate change;
∎ High integrity and a strong sense of professional ethics;
∎ Able to self-manage a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities, proactively solve problems, and/or suggest viable solutions while advancing goals and objectives;
∎ Demonstrated computer operating skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Google platform, and virtual technologies such as Skype and/or GoToMeeting;
∎ Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and coordinate work, and ensure the efficient flow of projects and processes;
∎ Strong people management skills / interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, teach, and mentor staff and volunteers;
∎ Comfortable and persuasive when speaking before both large and small groups;
∎ Ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization and across organizational and cultural boundaries.
∎ Medical fitness to live and travel in rural and urban areas with extreme conditions and limited medical support;
