Educational Requirements:
∎ BSc. /Diploma in Forestry, Botany or relevant discipline
∎ Academic degrees can be relaxed in case of a person with extensive Nursery Management experience particularly with vegetable and plant nursery in the Cox's Bazar region for both host and refugee community

Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 3 year(s)

Job Context:
∎ Project Brief: The project aims to improve and sustain the natural environment in and around refugee camps in the Teknaf area of Cox`s Bazar district and create an enabling situation for communities to become self-empowered, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the area..
∎ Part I: Job Statement
∎ Nursery Technician will be responsible to for the project nurseries mainly in Chakmarkul and Jadimura area which will produce at least 400,000 vegetables seedlings in three seasons. He/she will work under the supervision and technical guidance of Livelihoods Officer. The key job responsibility of the Nursery Technician is to ensure that the vegetable seedlings in the nursery are healthy and well-maintained. He/she will need to have a very good understanding of plant care and propagation techniques, as well as the ability to maintain equipment and tools. His/her ultimate goal will be to assist the Livelihoods Officer in running a successful climate smart nursery.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ A. Programme Activities:
∎ The primary responsibility of the Nursery Technician will be taking care of the vegetable seedlings and other plants in the nursery. This includes planting, watering, fertilising, and pruning the plants. He/she will need to monitor the health of the plants and take necessary measures to control pests and diseases.
∎ Nursery Technician will need to ensure that the propagation process is carried out correctly, and the new plants are healthy and viable.
∎ Nursery Technician will be responsible for keeping track of the seed/seedlings inventory in the nursery. This includes recording the number of plants, their species, and their growth stages. He/she will also need to assist in ordering new stock and maintaining the inventory records.
∎ Nursery Technician will need to maintain the equipment and tools used in the nursery, such as watering systems, pruning shears, and propagation materials. This includes cleaning, repairing, and replacing equipment as needed.
∎ Accompaniment support to project management and donors during field visits and sharing of monitoring findings in regular basis.
∎ B. General:
∎ Assist Project Manager as per his/her requirements.
∎ Perform any other task as and when assigned by the programme/management.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 03 years of professional experience
∎ Skills and Additional Job Requirements:
∎ Having non-discriminatory and gender-sensitive perceptions along with safeguarding
∎ To protect children in connection
∎ Understanding on local culture and languages is preferable.
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to refugee camp/village/community level.
∎ Having problem solving and prompt decision making capacity regarding bamboo seedlings growing and nurturing.
∎ Ability to work under pressure.
