∎ Cufa is seeking a National Key Trainer in Fish Farming to work on a two-year ADB-funded project on “Climate Resilience Capacity Building for Women in Poultry and Fish Farming”. This project is being implemented in Bangladesh jointly by Cufa and New Hope Bangladesh. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to food security by increasing the capacity of female farmers in climate resilient fish and poultry farming practices as well as in financial literacy.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Work closely with international fish farming expert to develop fish farming training curriculum and training resources covering the following key topics:
∎ o Work requirements for a fish farm;
∎ o Health management;
∎ o Climate change and fish farming;
∎ o Preventing climate-related stress in fish farms;
∎ o Methods for mitigating the effects of climate change-related extreme weather events; and
∎ o Maintenance of farm equipment, building, and environment.
∎ Deliver three days’ training in fish farming best practices to all-female cohorts of 1800 smallholder farmers
∎ Identify, train and supervise field trainers/local resource persons in coordination with project team and New Hope Bangladesh
∎ Plan and coordinate the delivery of training in fish farming best practices to female farmers
∎ Prepare the training reports
∎ Conduct daily monitoring and evaluation of training
∎ Assist in data collection for outcome/impact monitoring of the training
∎ Other tasks as assigned by Team Leader and international fish farming expert
Additional Requirements:
∎ • University degree in aquacultural science, fisheries, marine biology, agricultural economics, environmental management, or other related fields. Alternative aquacultural training or qualifications combined with more than 3 years of relevant professional experience can be considered.
∎ Female candidates are encouraged to apply who will receive highest consideration in the selection process.
∎ Prior experience with conducting training programs for smallholder farmers in the fish farming sector – compulsory requirement.
∎ Proven experience in training smallholder farmers in climate resilient farming practices – compulsory requirement.
∎ Prior experience of working with women farmers, including delivering training programs to all-female trainee groups – highly desired.
∎ Fluent in Bengali and verbal and written communication skills in English – compulsory requirement.
∎ Proven experience and familiarity with aquaculture production, particularly fish production, in Bangladesh is highly desirable
