Job Context:
∎ The midwife is responsible for providing care to women and baby during the antenatal, intranatal and postnatal periods. She will provide high quality, culturally sensitive care during labour. She will conduct a clean, safe delivery; give care to the new-born, and manage / refers emergencies effectively to prevent maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. The Midwife will assist female patients in all stages of emergency, childbirth and post-delivery.

∎ Report to: Nurse or Midwife Supervisor / Matron

∎ Expected Start Date: ASAP
∎ Contract length: Up to December 31, 2021 (With possibility of Extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Works as part of a multidisciplinary team of international and national staff to provide high quality patient care to pregnant women in labour.
∎ Provides direct patient care to women who came in for deliveries.
∎ Adheres to the relevant Code of conduct and ethics
∎ Participates in Continuing Professional Development (i.e. trainings, mentoring)
∎ Plans care of the patient in collaboration with the doctor.
∎ Provision of direct nursing care i.e. Administration of IV medications, wound dressing's clinical observations etc.
∎ Maintains all reusable equipment by cleaning and sterilizing appropriately.
∎ Maintain adequate and correct records of patient care including consumables & instruments utilized (if any)
∎ Ensure high quality delivery services at the facility.
∎ Works with technical support and M&E teams to collect appropriate baseline data over the life of the project
∎ Compiles and submits periodic reports
∎ Ensures adequate infection prevention and control measures are maintained at all times.
∎ IPC Management
∎ Ensure proper donning and doffing of PPE items.
∎ Conduct proper triage, early recognition and source control
∎ Supervise instrument processing
∎ Monitor waste management in the hospital
∎ IPC Management
∎ Give the necessary supervision, care and advice to women during pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period.
∎ Provide full antenatal care, including screening test in the hospital, community and the home.
∎ Provide counselling and advice before and after screening and tests.
∎ Conduct deliveries on her own and care for the newborn infant.
∎ Identify high risk pregnancies and making referrals to doctors and other medical specialists.
∎ Provide support and advice following events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death.
∎ Provide primary care to women of reproductive age, in accordance with the Basic Package of health Services.
∎ Supervise the provision of primary health care within the community by female health workers.
∎ Counsel and educate women, the family and the community, in relevant areas of health and provide a programme of parenthood preparation and a complete preparation for childbirth including advice on hygiene and nutrition.
∎ Give support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breastfeeding, bathing and making up feeds.
∎ Provide all non-surgical methods of family planning, and counselling for surgical methods.
∎ Follow established health center policies, procedures and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiatives; safety, environmental, and infection prevention standards.
∎ Decreased risk of needing a caesarean and reduced rates of labor induction and augmentation.
∎ Help to decrease infant mortality rates and preterm birth and take all initiatives which are necessary in case of need and carry out where necessary immediate resuscitation.
∎ Help to decrease maternal mortality rate and pregnancy related sufferings.
∎ Performs any other duties as may be assigned
Additional Requirements:
∎ Only females are allowed to apply

∎ At least one (1) years' experience in relevant clinical fields
∎ Previous experience in international organization is an advantage.
∎ Knowledge and experience with working in the field of refugee health care will be added as advantage.
∎ Effectively applies knowledge on clinical skills, bedside manner, infection control, administering medication, phlebotomy, maintenance etc.
∎ Adequate practical knowledge on handling child delivery and its complications.
∎ Works effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, and beneficiaries.
∎ Demonstrated teamwork and networking abilities
∎ Computer literacy
∎ Cultural awareness and sensitivity, prior experience in Rohingya camps is preferable
∎ Excellent interpersonal skill

Salary:
∎ As per RI National Pay Scale Policy in Bangladesh
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Weekly 2 holidays, Insurance
∎ Two festival bonuses in a year equivalent to one Gross salary.
∎ Severance (8.33% of the monthly Gross salary) goes with the monthly release of the salary
