Education:
    • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Microbiology
    • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Fisheries
    • Master of Science (MSc) in Microbiology
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.

Additional Requirements:

Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a microbiology or quality assurance role, preferably in food or seafood processing.

Knowledge: Familiarity with HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, and food safety regulations.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in microbiological techniques.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare detailed reports.
  • Working Conditions:Based in a fish processing plant environment with exposure to cold storage areas and production lines.
  • May require flexible hours to monitor shifts and ensure hygiene compliance.


Responsibilities & Context:
  • Conduct microbiological tests on raw materials, finished products, and processing environments.

  • Perform routine testing for bacteria, molds, yeast, and pathogens (e.g., Salmonella, Listeria).

  • Monitor water quality used in the processing facility.

  • Ensure products meet international and local food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, EU standards).

  • Maintain strict hygiene practices in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the HACCP plan.

  • Prepare and maintain records of all microbiological tests and quality checks.

  • Generate reports and provide recommendations to improve hygiene and food safety.

  • Monitor the sanitation of equipment and work areas to prevent cross-contamination.

  • Conduct swab tests of surfaces, equipment, and air for microbiological monitoring.

  • Recommend corrective actions when deviations from food safety standards are identified.

  • Train plant employees on hygiene practices, food safety, and microbiological control.

  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure compliance with microbiological standards.
