Educational requirements:

  1. MBBS from a recognized medical college with valid BMDC registration.

  2. Minimum 1–3 years’ experience in Orthopaedics, Surgery, Critical Care, or Post-Operative Care

  3. Experience in managing spine or trauma patients is highly preferred.

  4. Ability to identify post-operative red flags and act promptly.

  5. Knowledge of pain management, IV medications, wound care, drains, and ortho post-op protocols.

    Experience and required skills:

    1.       1–4 years of experience in Orthopaedics / Trauma / Spine unit preferred.

     

     

    Required skills: Clinical knowledge in musculoskeletal and spine-related conditions, good patient communication & counselling skills, ability to work under pressure and handle emergency cases, strong documentation and reporting ability, teamwork with consultants and allied health professionals.

    Job responsibilities:

1.       Monitor all post-operative patients in the spine and orthopaedic ward, including pain management, vitals monitoring, wound care, and drain assessment.

2.       Conduct daily rounds, evaluate patient progress, and report clinical updates to the Consultant Orthopaedic/Spine Surgeon.

3.       Manage post-op complications early, such as infection, bleeding, DVT, urinary retention, and neurological changes.

4.       Ensure implementation of post-operative protocols including medication administration, physiotherapy instructions, and mobilization plans.

5.       Coordinate with nurses, physiotherapists, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams for seamless patient care.

6.       Review surgical notes, maintain accurate medical documentation, and prepare discharge summaries.

7.       Attend clinical meetings, handovers, and help maintain ward discipline and protocol.

8.       Counsel patients and families regarding recovery, rehabilitation, and follow-up.

Handle emergency situations in the post-op ward when required.
