Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary:

A Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently to support patient diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. The role includes working in Biochemistry & Immunology, Hematology, Microbiology, and Molecular Laboratory sections while maintaining international laboratory standards, quality control, and patient safety.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:-

  • Perform laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures according to hospital protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment.

  • Ensure accurate sample collection, labeling, processing, and reporting.

  • Maintain proper documentation of laboratory records and test results.

  • Follow infection prevention, biosafety, and waste management guidelines.

  • Ensure quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures are properly maintained.

  • Report critical values and abnormal findings promptly to physicians or supervisors.

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.

  • Assist consultants, pathologists, and laboratory physicians in diagnostic services.

  • Participate in laboratory accreditation and continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Ensure proper stock management of reagents, kits, and laboratory consumables.

  • Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the laboratory environment.

  • Provide emergency laboratory support during critical situations and on-call duties when required.
