Responsibilities & Context:
LAMB is a well-run major mission Hospital, Community Health Development, Training, and Research organization. Services cover more than 6.3 million people in North West Bangladesh.
There is a vacancy for the following regular position based at LAMB Hospital, Parbatipur, Dinajpur.
Job Summary: Work within a team caring for patients mostly in OPD, sometimes also working in IPD as required by the supervisor plus covering on-calls for medicine emergencies together with the doctor.
OPD work either Medicine or Gynae/ANC and Pediatrics in rotation
To take history, examine, give investigations, treatment and counselling following LAMB guidelines and protocols
Refer to or discuss with doctor, if complicated case or patient not responding to primary treatment.
Pediatrics: follow IMCI and do feeding assessment
Rehab clinic: hearing test
ANC: see all 1st visit pregnant mothers, check for possible medical problems and counsel about specific investigations. Doing Dating scans.
Gynae: Family Planning counseling about different methods plus write into register
Special clinics according to assignment: Eye, Club Foot
Support of X-ray department, doing ECG for female patients
IPD work
Elective/OPD hour admissions usually done by Junior Doctor, but MA might be asked to help in case of junior shortage.
Doing round for neonates independently for low risk, under supervision of senior doctor for stable patients, following LAMB protocols including discharge.
On call
according to duty roster cover emergency time from 4pm to 9am and all day on chuti day
Doing registration for all patients coming in out of hours.
Initial assessment of all patients in ER, then inform junior doctor and possibly assist in admission if needed.
If no doctor is immediately available, and an emergency situation exists, to write initial orders and initiate emergency treatment.
Admissions for neonates inborn and outborn under supervision of doctor.
Getting needed medicines from pharmacy and keep record in pharmacy kata.
Other:
During regular work hours or when on call, to assist in practical training and teaching of Medical Assistants, nurses and Health Teachers.
Get involved in regular classes for health teachers and medical assistants as needed.
Support to TC in classes for NI-students
To give assistance when requested to any part of LAMB Project, including CHDP/Fistula project, Immunizations, HRD and training programs etc.
To learn extra skills and take over special responsibilities according to assignment: Anesthesia, X-Ray, MVV-training, IMCI training Quality Assurance, MA-training program etc
Job Other Benifits:
Salary: Tk. 15,570 per month gross amount. The remuneration package includes provident fund, recreation & critical illness and death benefit. Other benefits include Medical Care at LAMB Hospital, dress allowance, and a festival allowance (100% of basic salary) once per year.
