Responsibilities & Context:

1. Work Study and Standardization

  • Conduct time studies and establish accurate SMV/SAM for every operation.

  • Prepare operation breakdowns, method sheets and machine requirements.

  • Maintain the factory SMV database and review standards after product or method changes.

  • Conduct method studies to eliminate unnecessary motion, waiting and handling.

  • Develop standardized work instructions and visual operating standards.

2. Capacity Planning and Line Balancing

  • Calculate manpower, machinery and hourly capacity for each style and production line.

  • Prepare line layouts and balance operations according to target output.

  • Identify bottlenecks, implement corrective action and rebalance lines when necessary.

  • Monitor hourly production against plan.

  • Support PPC in production loading, capacity booking and delivery planning.

3. Productivity Improvement

  • Establish production targets using approved SMV, available minutes and manpower.

  • Improve operator efficiency, line efficiency and overall labour productivity.

  • Lead productivity projects using Lean and IE techniques.

  • Reduce non-productive time, WIP, material movement and production losses.

  • Support productivity ramp-up during new-style introduction.

4. Costing and Consumption Support

  • Provide labor-minute and machine-minute data for product costing.

  • Prepare style-wise manpower and machine-cost analysis.

  • Support merchandising and costing teams with reliable manufacturing data.

  • Compare pre-costing assumptions with actual production performance.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.

5. Lean Manufacturing

  • Implement 5S, Kaizen, visual management, Standard Work, VSM, SMED and waste-reduction activities.

  • Conduct value-stream and process-flow analyses.

  • Improve workstation design, material flow and point-of-use storage.

  • Lead cross-functional improvement projects with Production, Quality and Maintenance.

  • Develop a continuous-improvement culture at shop-floor level.

6. New Style and Pre-Production Support

  • Participate in sample review, risk analysis and pre-production meetings.

  • Prepare preliminary operation breakdowns, SMV, layouts and manpower plans.

  • Conduct production trials and recommend method improvements.

  • Coordinate operator skill matching and training requirements.

  • Monitor the learning curve and stabilize output after style changeover.

7. Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor line and operator efficiency, output per person-hour, earned minutes and available minutes.

  • Track capacity utilization, machine utilization, bottlenecks, WIP and absenteeism impact.

  • Measure changeover time, rework, production losses and OEE for critical equipment where applicable.

  • Prepare accurate daily, weekly and monthly IE performance reports for management.

8. Layout and Ergonomics

  • Develop efficient production-line and workstation layouts.

  • Ensure appropriate working heights, reach distances, seating and material placement.

  • Minimize excessive movement, bending, lifting and repetitive strain.

  • Support safe and compliant workstation design.

  • Coordinate layout changes with Production, Maintenance, Safety and Compliance.

9. Digitalization and Industry 4.0

  • Support implementation of MES, ERP and digital production monitoring.

  • Maintain accurate production standards and routing data in the system.

  • Promote real-time output, downtime and efficiency monitoring.

  • Assist with RFID, IoT, automated data collection and digital Andon initiatives.

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of IE-related production data.

10 Team Management

  • Assign duties and targets to IE officers and work-study personnel.

  • Train the IE team in time study, method study, line balancing and data analysis.

  • Coach supervisors and production staff on productivity management.

  • Review team performance and develop improvement plans.

  • Promote collaboration among IE, Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance and HR
