EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory Experience

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in commercial transport, covered van, or fleet operations.

• Proven direct responsibility for driver recruitment, fleet deployment, fuel monitoring, and maintenance coordination.

• Demonstrated ability to lead drivers, helpers, and operational personnel.

• An active driver network and dependable technical manpower network, as specified above.

• Ability to substantiate previous responsibilities, fleet sizes managed, and operational achievements.

Practical Skills

• Working knowledge of commercial vehicle operations, route planning, trip costing, and maintenance coordination.

• Proficiency in GPS monitoring, Microsoft Excel, and operational reporting.

• Strong communication, negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.

• Willingness to work at the Ghorashal depot, undertake field visits, and respond to emergencies beyond regular office hours when necessary.

Experience solely in warehouse operations, procurement, freight forwarding, general administration, or private passenger vehicle supervision will not satisfy the core experience requirements.

We are looking for a field-oriented leader who combines sound operational judgment with integrity, discipline, and a proven ability to mobilize dependable drivers and skilled technical personnel.

ESSENTIAL TO THIS APPOINTMENT

An Active Driver Network & Dependable Technical Resources

Applicants must have an established, active, and dependable network of professional covered van and commercial vehicle drivers, supported by proven experience in driver recruitment, deployment, supervision, and retention.

Applicants must also have an accessible network of competent:

• Engine Mechanics
• Auto Electricians / Vehicle Wiring Technicians
• Grinding and Machining Technicians

The successful candidate must be able to recruit suitable drivers within agreed timelines, arrange replacement drivers promptly, and mobilize technical support for routine repairs and emergency breakdowns.

These networks are mandatory requirements and key conditions of appointment. Final selection and employment confirmation will depend on satisfactory verification of these networks and demonstrated ability to recruit and deploy suitable drivers and arrange qualified technical personnel when required. Candidates without these active networks should not apply.

THE ROLE

Based at our Ghorashal depot, the Manager - Operations will lead daily commercial fleet activities and maintain clear accountability for vehicle readiness, driver deployment, operating costs, and client service.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Fleet Deployment & Service Delivery

• Plan vehicle allocation, route schedules, driver assignments, and daily dispatch according to operational commitments.
• Monitor trips from deployment to completion and resolve delays, disruptions, and service complaints promptly.
• Improve vehicle utilization and reduce avoidable idle time, missed trips, and downtime.
• Maintain effective coordination with corporate clients, depots, drivers, workshops, and internal teams.

2. Driver Recruitment, Leadership & Retention

• Develop and maintain a dependable pool of qualified drivers and replacement resources.
• Recruit drivers through appropriate screening of driving licenses, vehicle-specific experience, employment history, and references.
• Supervise drivers and helpers, including attendance, duty allocation, performance, conduct, and operational discipline.
• Address driver concerns fairly while maintaining professional boundaries and accountability.
• Ensure driver shortages are identified early and addressed before they interrupt operations.

3. Vehicle Readiness & Maintenance

• Plan preventive maintenance and follow up on repairs until vehicles are ready for deployment.
• Arrange competent mechanics, auto electricians, and grinding/machining technicians according to operational needs.
• Review repair requirements, estimates, spare parts usage, and completed work with appropriate technical support.
• Maintain vehicle maintenance histories and identify recurring faults, excessive costs, and avoidable downtime.
• Coordinate prompt recovery and repair support for vehicles experiencing breakdowns.

4. Fuel Efficiency & Operational Cost Control

• Monitor GPS records, trip sheets, kilometres travelled, KMPL, fuel consumption, and vehicle daily running activity.
• Reconcile fuel usage with trip and mileage records and investigate unexplained variances.
• Verify operational expense claims, repair bills, and spare parts requirements before recommending approval.
• Identify practical opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising safety or service quality.
• Maintain transparent dealings with drivers, workshops, suppliers, and service providers.

5. Compliance, Safety & Incident Management

• Monitor the validity of vehicle registration, fitness certificates, tax tokens, insurance, route permits, and other applicable documents.
• Coordinate with BRTA, police, insurers, and relevant authorities when necessary.
• Take ownership of accidents, breakdowns, and urgent operational incidents, including site attendance when required.
• Ensure prompt reporting, proper documentation, and follow-up of incidents and insurance matters.
• Reinforce safe driving practices and compliance with company procedures.

6. Reporting & Management Accountability

• Submit accurate daily updates on vehicle status, driver availability, trips, breakdowns, and unresolved issues.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports on fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, downtime, and service performance.
• Escalate risks and irregularities promptly, with clear facts and recommended actions.
• Carry out other relevant responsibilities assigned by management.
