Job Context:
∎ FH Association (a Christian, relief & development organization) wants to fill one (1) Manager- Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) position and therefore, inviting applications from eligible candidates.
∎ Job Summary:
∎ The Disaster Risk Reduction Manager will be responsible for the planning, organization and coordination of all measures to mitigate/prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from disaster events. S/he supports all aspects of day-to-day management and technical leadership with regard to the design and support of effective work plans. S/he will provide the main technical guidance and offer assistance where needed and appropriate.
∎ Report to : Senior Manager- Program Quality
∎ Location : Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide technical expertise, training, and leadership to strengthen the quality and effectiveness of the organization’s DRR activities;
∎ Design the DRR module and policies based on global and local standards and needs;
∎ Provide technical support to the DRR, resilience, and recovery team working with the communities implementing activities;
∎ Update and maintain the DRR modules & policies with the latest tools, methods, and practices, and;
∎ Train and facilitate community-managed disaster risk reduction (CMDRR) committees to develop resilience and social cohesion plans to mitigate and respond to hazards and shocks contributing to food insecurity and promote social cohesion;
∎ Conduct routine project visits to assist staff in overcoming obstacles in delivering DRR messages and to experience, see, and learn about programming, to improve the DRR activities
∎ Represent the organization and be the main contact person for enquirers about the organization’s DRR activities;
∎ Attend, participate, and contribute to DRR cluster meetings, workshops, and networking events;
∎ Ensure effective and timely financial and commodity resource management utilization;
∎ Collect and maintain DRR data, research, and statistics, to be used in the future; and
∎ Assists the Senior Program Quality Manager in developing and writing proposals for funding opportunities.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years of experience in disaster management in an INGO/NGO context.
∎ Knowledge & Competencies:

∎ Able to self-manage a diverse and dynamic set of responsibilities, proactively solve problems, and/or suggest viable solutions while advancing goals and objectives;
∎ Demonstrated computer operating skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Google platform, and virtual technologies such as Skype and/or GoToMeeting;
∎ Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and coordinate work, and ensure the efficient flow of projects and processes;
∎ Strong people management skills / interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, teach, and mentor staff and volunteers;
∎ Comfortable and persuasive when speaking before both large and small groups;
∎ Ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization and across organizational and cultural boundaries.
∎ Medical fitness to live and travel in rural and urban areas with extreme conditions and limited medical support;
