Position: Manager / Assistant Manager – HR, Compliance & Sustainability
Job Purpose:
Responsible for leading and coordinating Social, Environmental, Health & Safety, and HR compliance activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, international standards, buyer requirements, and company policies. The role will also oversee grievance management, HR KPI systems, manpower planning, employee assessment, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead and monitor the overall social compliance program in line with Bangladesh Labor Law, international labor standards, company policies, and buyer Codes of Conduct.
Ensure effective implementation of policies relating to working hours, wages & benefits, child/forced labor, discrimination, disciplinary practices, freedom of association, worker welfare, grievance mechanisms, and employee rights.
Manage and strengthen worker grievance and complaint handling systems, ensuring confidentiality, fair investigation, timely resolution, documentation, and preventive actions.
Monitor Participation Committee/Welfare Committee, worker-management communication, employee engagement, and workplace relations.
Conduct regular compliance inspections, gap assessments, risk assessments, and follow-up actions.
Coordinate social compliance audits and assessments including SMETA, amfori BSCI, WRAP, SLCP, SEDEX, Better Work, Buyer Social Audits, SA8000, and other customer-specific requirements.
Prepare, implement, and monitor Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and ensure sustainable closure of audit findings.
Lead environmental and sustainability compliance programs covering energy, water, waste, GHG emissions, carbon reduction, air emissions, chemical management, resource efficiency, and environmental management systems.
Coordinate assessments and programs including Higg FEM, amfori BEPI, environmental self-assessments, sustainability projects, and buyer environmental requirements.
Manage sustainability certifications and standards including GOTS, GRS, RCS, OCS, European Flax, SCAN, and other applicable requirements.
Drive environmental improvement projects, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste reduction, low-carbon initiatives, water conservation, and responsible chemical management.
Coordinate required environmental documentation, monitoring data, verification, CAPs, and buyer portal submissions.
Coordinate and monitor occupational health & safety, fire safety, electrical safety, structural safety, chemical safety, emergency preparedness, and workplace risk management.
Coordinate RSC/Nirapon safety requirements, including inspections, CAPs, remediation, Nirapon TSV, 90 Days Program, and other safety initiatives.
Coordinate FCCA, Costco GMP, Buyer Technical Audits, WSE, and other customer-specific technical and facility compliance requirements.
Organize and monitor fire drills, emergency response training, evacuation arrangements, safety inspections, PPE, first aid, incident investigation, and corrective actions.
Liaise with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Fire & Safety, and other departments to ensure timely closure of technical and safety issues.
Plan, coordinate, and manage customer, third-party, certification, regulatory, and internal audits from preparation through CAP closure.
Maintain audit readiness and ensure availability, accuracy, and traceability of compliance records and supporting evidence.
Coordinate requirements related to WRAP, BSCI, SMETA, SEDEX, SLCP, Higg FEM/FSLM, FCCA, Costco GMP, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, GRS, RCS, OCS, European Flax, SCAN, amfori BEPI, RSC/Nirapon, and other applicable standards.
Maintain and update relevant buyer portals, certification systems, compliance databases, and sustainability platforms.
Coordinate with buyers and stakeholders including Target USA, Walmart, Bestseller, Costco, BIG W, Loblaw, H&M, Inditex/Zara, GAP, Primark, and other international customers.
Lead core HR activities including manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, placement, employee records, attendance, leave, payroll coordination, employee welfare, retention, and separation management.
Develop and monitor annual manpower plans, departmental manpower requirements, workforce budgets, and recruitment plans.

Coordinate periodic employee performance assessments, appraisal processes, competency assessments, and development plans.
Conduct job analysis and job evaluation and develop/update Job Descriptions according to organizational requirements.
Support succession planning, talent development, employee engagement, retention, and career development initiatives.
Ensure HR policies and procedures are effectively communicated, implemented, and periodically reviewed.
Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and develop annual training plans.
Coordinate training on HR policies, labor law, social compliance, grievance handling, workplace behavior, safety, fire prevention, emergency response, environmental awareness, SOPs, and buyer requirements.
Monitor training effectiveness and maintain appropriate training records.
Establish a positive and respectful employee-management relationship.
Lead investigation and resolution of employee complaints, grievances, disciplinary matters, workplace conflicts, and employee relations issues.
Ensure all disciplinary and grievance processes are handled fairly, consistently, confidentially, and in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Identify recurring employee concerns and recommend preventive and corrective measures to management.
Lead and coordinate continuous improvement and sustainability programs such as GEAR, WMS, 5S, Low Hanging Fruit (LHF), We Women, Nirapon 90 Days Program, TSV, worker engagement, and environmental self-reliance initiatives.
Identify compliance and operational risks and develop practical improvement plans.
Promote a culture of ethical business practices, worker welfare, sustainability, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Liaise with buyers, auditors, certification bodies, BGMEA, DIFE, Labor Office, Civil Defense, RSC/Nirapon, NGOs, consultants, regulators, and other external stakeholders.
Represent the company professionally during audits, inspections, meetings, assessments, and compliance-related communications.
