Job Responsibilities:
∎ As an IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) focal person in the Rohingya refugee context, his/her role is crucial in preventing and managing infectious diseases within the refugee community in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. This role involves working in a challenging and resource-constrained environment to implement effective measures that safeguard the health and well-being of the vulnerable population
∎ Adherence to IPC Guidelines: Ensure that all healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and health posts, strictly adhere to IPC guidelines and standard protocols.
∎ Hand Hygiene Promotion: Promote proper hand hygiene practices among healthcare workers, patients, and community members to prevent the transmission of infections.
∎ Environmental Cleaning and Waste Management: Monitor and ensure proper cleaning and disinfection practices in healthcare settings and the community. Implement safe waste management practices to reduce infection risk
∎ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management: Oversee the appropriate use and availability of personal protective equipment among healthcare workers and staff in healthcare facilities and community settings.
∎ Community Engagement: Engage with the refugee community to raise awareness about infection prevention and control measures, address concerns, and foster a sense of ownership in promoting health and hygiene practices
∎ Coordination and Collaboration: Collaborate with other health and humanitarian organizations, NGOs, and government agencies to ensure a coordinated and effective response to infectious disease outbreaks and other health emergencies
∎ Ensure the smooth running of the clinic including set-up, support staff supervision, security, maintenance, and liaison with landlords, contractors, and suppliers
∎ Maintain constant liaison with the Cox Bazar based Friendship management and field team and camp based regulatory bodies including CiC, ACiC, Site Management, and Community Health Working group
∎ Support the PMs, SRHR specialist efforts to maintain a positive organizational climate with the highest professional and ethical standards
∎ Support and follow through on administrative requirements
∎ Support planning and coordination of program and its activities
∎ Support national recruitment drive for long term strategy, including interviewing and inducting applicants.
∎ Support growth and program development
∎ Ensure that all standardized forms are used and guidelines are followed strickly
∎ Work with the Program Manager to ensure a cash flow plan is established and there is sufficient cash access at the clinic.
∎ Maintain spend tracking system
∎ Support Base Logistics and Logistics Assistant with ad hoc procurement requests and stock replenishment.
∎ Develop and maintain a transparent and supportive communication structure with colleagues to ensure they are kept informed of relevant activities and requirements
∎ Keep updated records and create reports or proposals
∎ Manage staff scheduling to enable clinics to be open 24hours
∎ Administer team meetings and take notes/actions.
∎ Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.)
∎ Assist with set up of facilities staff accommodation/housing/transport
∎ Initiate procurement of necessary items in consulting with SMO/ facility in charge; Keep constant follow up of the PR and Monthly Fund Requisitions and also ensure that all the logistics reaches in time
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 30 to 35 years
∎ Previous experience in infection prevention and control, preferably in humanitarian settings or with vulnerable populations.
∎ Familiarity with IPC guidelines, protocols, and best practices in refugee settings.
∎ Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and educate healthcare workers and community members, considering potential language and cultural barriers.
∎ Proficiency in English and local languages is preferred for effective communication.
∎ Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse communities and refugee populations
