Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Science (Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy/Prosthetics and Orthotics, Speech and Language Therapy), Disability Studies, Inclusive Education.

  • At least 2 years of experience working on the same thematic, preferably in a development and humanitarian context.

  • Experience and comprehensive understanding of disability issues, awareness-raising, and training material development/training implementation.

  • Experience of working in a remote community setting is an advantage.

  • Proven analytical and planning skills.

  • Knowledge of disability and development issues in Bangladesh.

  • Have the capacity to maintain close relationships with partners, stakeholders, and clients.

  • Experience in contributing to data collection and indicator tracking within development projects or programs.

  • Computer knowledge (MS office package- both in English and Bangla).

  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written Bangla and English.

  • Ability to work under pressure and in a multicultural team environment.

  • Availability to travel to remote areas and spend time at the field level.



Responsibilities & Context:

HI is looking for some Inclusion Officers for one of its "Anticipated project" and another Project Funded by UNHCR, with Handicap International—Humanity & Inclusion.

No. of Vacancies and Location: 2-Ukhiya

Type of Contract: Fixed-Term

Duration of the Contract: Tentatively Anticipated Project - 03 May 2026 to 31 March 2027, and Tentatively UNHCR - 03 May 2026 to 30 September 2026.

Line Manager: Project Manager

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Inclusion Officer contributes to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion in the country where s/he is based. The Inclusion Officer contributes to the implementation of his/her project, ensuring the optimal quality and the impact of the project. S/he works closely with the programme technical team.

Missions/responsibilities

Mission 1: Strategy and steering

  • Prepare work plan(s), feedback on meetings/field visits, and periodic reports;

  • Identify training needs and plan/conduct training to enhance the capacity of the beneficiaries;

  • Ensure effective cooperation, coordination, and representation of the project with local stakeholders;

  • Maintain monitoring and evaluation systems;

  • Participate in the meetings assigned by the line manager;

  • Regularly update the field situation to the line manager and follow his/her suggestions and recommendations;

  • Accountable for the image of the organization in Bangladesh and must promote its philosophy and approach;

  • Has to respect an obligation of discretion on all confidential information about the organization;

  • Has to respect the strict public distance of political and religious neutrality of the organization;

  • Has to respect donor/project communication, data protection rules, and visibility guidelines.

  • Has to abide by the HI-related different policies (like Child Protection Policy (CPP) and Protection of Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (PSEA), Data Protection and Anti-Bribery)

  • Has to perform any other activities suggested by the line manager for the improvement of the project or organization

Mission 2: Operational implementation

  • Support the technical specialist (IHA) in the organization of a kick-off workshop with project partners to orient them on global disability inclusion guidelines and understand their needs in terms of capacity building.

  • Capacity building for project partners and on-the-job coaching for project partners’ skills on the inclusion of people with disabilities.

  • In coordination with the technical specialist (IHA), ensure implementation of training to build a basic understanding of project partners on disability-inclusive programming.

  • Conduct participatory assessment with selected project partners to identify tailored coaching and technical support required from HI; jointly prepare an action plan to improve disability inclusiveness in their programming; follow up and update the action plan; and preserve relevant documents.

  • Collect good practices of disability-inclusive humanitarian action and disseminate them to all external stakeholders.

  • Form a group including persons with disabilities to identify criteria of disability IHA and capture the changes made by project partners after having on-the-job coaching and technical support from HI from the beginning to the end of the project.

  • Share the collected good practices with technical specialists (IHA) and consultants; accommodate their opinions to finalize the collected good practices.

  • Carry out the Lessons Learned workshop to consolidate experiences and identify good practices and challenges faced.

  • Organize a lessons learned workshop with selected project partners in consultation with a technical specialist (IHA) and share experiences earned throughout the action.

  • Prepare the relevant PSRs to organize training, workshops, and necessary materials for project partners; archive training and workshop-related materials and documents such as attendance sheets, training/workshop reports, pre- & post-test papers, action plans jointly prepared with project partners, IEC materials, meeting minutes, and photographs.

Mission 3: Emergency preparedness and response

  • Contributes to the program’s emergency preparedness actions and, in an emergency, adapts his or her working methods to contribute to an effective response.
