Responsibilities & Context:

Position Overview

Experience Group Bangladesh is seeking a highly experienced, commercially driven and well-connected professional to lead the marketing, sales and merchandising functions of its knitwear business.

The Group has 20 dedicated knit garment production lines, supported by backward linkage capabilities in circular knitted fabric production. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a strong and sustainable international order book, acquiring new buyers, expanding customer relationships and ensuring effective utilization of the Group’s knit manufacturing capacity.

This is a senior commercial leadership position requiring a proven business developer with strong buyer relationships, sound product knowledge, commercial judgment and the ability to manage the complete process from customer acquisition and product development through order confirmation, production coordination and shipment.

Key Product Categories

The role will primarily focus on:

  • Men’s boxers and underwear

  • Basic and fashion T-shirts

  • Polo shirts

  • Loungewear and sleepwear

  • High-volume knit basics

  • Other commercially viable knitted apparel products

Key Responsibilities

Marketing and Business Development

  • Develop and implement the Group’s overall marketing and business development strategy for knit products.

  • Identify and approach international brands, retailers, importers, buying houses and sourcing offices.

  • Leverage established professional relationships to generate buyer enquiries, development programmes and confirmed orders.

  • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of prospective customers and business opportunities.

  • Present the Group’s knit garment manufacturing and circular knitting capabilities professionally to international customers.

  • Prepare customer-specific capability presentations, product proposals and commercial offers.

  • Identify target markets, customer segments and product categories aligned with the Group’s production capabilities.

  • Represent the Group in buyer meetings, sourcing events, exhibitions and international business development activities.

  • Monitor global sourcing trends, competitor capabilities, market pricing and product developments.

Sales and Customer Management

  • Secure profitable and sustainable orders for the Group’s 20 knit production lines.

  • Develop long-term commercial relationships with international buyers and sourcing partners.

  • Lead negotiations relating to pricing, payment terms, order quantities, delivery schedules and commercial conditions.

  • Maintain regular communication with buyers throughout product development, order execution and shipment.

  • Ensure customer expectations are clearly communicated to all relevant internal departments.

  • Drive repeat business and account growth through strong service, product quality and commercial performance.

  • Develop annual and seasonal sales targets and customer acquisition plans.

Merchandising and Order Management

  • Lead the complete merchandising process from initial enquiry through product development, costing, order confirmation, production and shipment.

  • Establish strong merchandising systems, reporting structures and critical-path controls.

  • Coordinate closely with sampling, product development, knitting, sourcing, procurement, planning, production, quality and commercial teams.

  • Ensure timely submission of samples, prices, lab dips, trims, approvals and production documentation.

  • Evaluate the commercial and operational feasibility of each order before confirmation.

  • Ensure accurate consumption, costing and pricing while protecting the Group’s required margins.

  • Monitor order progress and resolve potential delays or execution risks proactively.

  • Ensure orders are delivered according to agreed quality, cost and delivery requirements.

  • Maintain complete visibility over the order book, capacity allocation and shipment schedule.

Capacity and Product Strategy

  • Develop an appropriate product and customer mix for the Group’s 20 knit garment production lines.

  • Match customer requirements with the Group’s garment manufacturing and circular knitted fabric capabilities.

  • Develop production-loading strategies that support efficient line utilization and commercially viable order volumes.

  • Work with factory management to determine suitable styles, order quantities and delivery programmes.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage backward linkage capabilities to improve lead time, cost competitiveness and supply-chain control.

  • Recommend investments, machinery adjustments or capability improvements where commercially justified.

  • Develop annual and seasonal sales forecasts based on confirmed orders and the active business pipeline.

  • Support management in maintaining a balanced order book across products, customers and delivery periods.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the knit marketing, merchandising and product development teams.

  • Establish clear individual responsibilities, performance standards and measurable targets.

  • Build a disciplined, responsive and customer-focused merchandising culture.

  • Ensure effective coordination between the corporate office and manufacturing facilities.

  • Conduct regular order review, sales pipeline and capacity-planning meetings.

  • Provide regular business, sales and order-book updates to senior management.

  • Recruit and develop additional team members where required to support business growth.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 12–18 years of relevant experience in export-oriented knitwear marketing, sales, business development and merchandising.

  • Strong experience in men’s underwear, boxers, T-shirts, polo shirts, basics, loungewear or similar knit products.

  • Demonstrable relationships with international brands, retailers, buying houses and sourcing offices.

  • Proven track record of acquiring customers and converting enquiries and development programmes into confirmed orders.

  • Strong understanding of circular knitting, yarn, fabric consumption, dyeing, finishing, garment manufacturing, costing and commercial negotiations.

  • Ability to match suitable buyers and products with available manufacturing capabilities.

  • Experience managing merchandising, product development and commercial teams.

  • Strong understanding of international compliance, quality and delivery expectations.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and customer-management skills.

  • Strong commercial judgment, integrity, ownership and accountability.

  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver against defined commercial targets.

  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Reporting Line

The position will report directly to the Group Director and work closely with the Group Chairman, factory leadership, knitting, planning, production, quality, procurement, finance and commercial departments.

Location

Dhaka, Bangladesh, with regular factory visits and international travel as required.

Compensation

A highly competitive compensation package will be offered to the selected candidate. The package may include performance-based incentives linked to confirmed orders, profitability, buyer development, payment realization and production-capacity utilization.
