Responsibilities & Context:
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business goals of the organization.

  • Plan and forecast workforce needs in coordination with production, sales, and other departments.

  • Design and update organizational structures, roles, and responsibilities as needed.

  • Create and manage HR budgets, including recruitment, training, and employee benefits.

  • Oversee recruitment processes, including job postings, interviews, selection, and onboarding of new employees.

  • Ensure the attraction and retention of skilled employees through effective recruitment and employee engagement strategies.

  • Develop talent management programs, including succession planning, employee development, and leadership training.

  • Manage performance appraisal systems and ensure they are linked to organizational goals.

  • Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns, managing conflicts, and maintaining open lines of communication.

  • Implement employee engagement initiatives to boost morale and productivity.

  • Oversee grievance redressal mechanisms and ensure fair treatment of all employees.

  • Organize employee welfare programs and ensure employee satisfaction.

  • Identify training needs across the organization and develop tailored training programs.

  • Facilitate leadership development and professional growth opportunities for employees at all levels.

  • Ensure compliance training (such as workplace safety, harassment prevention) is delivered regularly.

  • Conduct periodic skills assessments and provide recommendations for employee development.

  • Design and manage competitive compensation structures, incentive programs, and benefits packages.

  • Ensure that payroll systems are functioning efficiently and employees are compensated on time.

  • Conduct salary benchmarking to ensure the company remains competitive in attracting top talent.

  • Oversee benefits administration, including health insurance, leave management, and retirement plans.

  • Ensure the organization complies with all labor laws, workplace safety regulations, and other legal standards.

  • Manage relationships with government authorities and regulatory bodies for audits, inspections, and licensing.

  • Handle disputes and investigations related to compliance issues, such as wage violations, harassment, or discrimination claims.

  • Ensure all employee policies and procedures comply with local labor laws, social compliance standards (BSCI, SEDEX, etc), and international guidelines.

  • Implement and monitor occupational health and safety (OHS) programs, ensuring the workplace adheres to safety regulations.

  • Conduct risk assessments, manage safety drills, and ensure the company complies with safety standards.

  • Investigate and resolve any workplace accidents, hazards, or non-compliance issues.

  • Promote a safety-first culture within the organization.

  • Oversee social compliance programs to ensure adherence to ethical labor standards, such as child labor prevention, fair wages, and humane working conditions.

  • Prepare for and manage third-party social audits, including those from international buyers and certification bodies.

  • Maintain records of compliance audits and corrective actions for continuous improvement.

  • Ensure proper documentation and procedures for factory audits, ethical sourcing programs, and sustainability certifications.

  • Maintain harmonious industrial relations, managing interactions between management, employees, and unions (if applicable).

  • Negotiate with labor unions, resolve disputes, and ensure agreements are in place to avoid labor strikes or disruptions.

  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and resolve conflicts related to employment terms, working conditions, and wages.

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the organization.

  • Implement policies that foster an inclusive work environment free from discrimination.

  • Monitor and improve the organization’s efforts in maintaining a diverse and fair workforce.

  • Regularly review HR metrics, such as turnover rates, employee satisfaction, and compliance adherence, to inform decision-making.

  • Prepare reports on HR and compliance performance for senior management.

  • Conduct HR audits and compliance reviews to identify gaps and areas for improvement.

  • Handle crisis situations, such as labor strikes, compliance violations, or workplace accidents, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing impact.

  • Develop contingency plans for HR and compliance issues, ensuring smooth business continuity during disruptions.

  • Coordinate with external consultants, labor authorities, legal advisors, and certification bodies regarding HR and compliance matters.

  • Maintain positive relationships with buyers and international clients, ensuring compliance with their social responsibility standards.

  • Develop and manage initiatives for sustainability and social responsibility.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to waste management, energy consumption, and sustainable practices.

    This role demands a balance of strategic leadership, regulatory knowledge, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage HR operations while ensuring compliance with both local and international standards.
