Community Development Centre (CODEC) is going to implement the Contingency Partnership to Respond to Emergencies in Chattogram Division, funded by UNICEF Bangladesh; which will assist affected populations in Chittagong, Comilla, Feni, Lakshmipur and Noakhali districts., Covering health, nutrition, WASH, child protection, education, and social behavior change.
The project targets over 600,000 individuals, focusing on pregnant women, children, and vulnerable groups. Key activities include medical camps, nutritional support, safe water and sanitation facilities, child protection, and educational continuity, all integrated with capacity development.
Duration - 03 months.
Job Summary:
The Emergency Education Officer is responsible for ensuring the continuity of learning in flood-affected areas by overseeing the restoration of education services in collaboration with local education authorities. The role involves distributing educational supplies, organizing minor repairs to learning spaces, and engaging with communities to promote the return of children to school. The officer will also monitor educational outcomes and ensure that interventions are effectively implemented to meet project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Restoration of Learning Spaces:
Lead the assessment of educational needs in affected areas, identifying schools and learning spaces that require support.
Coordinate the minor repairs and cleaning of schools to ensure children have safe and conducive learning environments.
Ensure timely and efficient distribution of educational supplies to schools and students, including learning materials and remedial packages to address learning loss.
Coordination & Collaboration:
Collaborate with the Upazila Education Office, Upazila Secondary Education Office, Directorate of Primary Education, and Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education to ensure alignment with local education policies and strategies.
Work closely with community leaders and volunteers to raise awareness about the importance of returning to school, conducting community sessions to encourage school attendance.
Community Engagement:
Engage parents and caregivers through community outreach sessions to emphasize the importance of continued education post-disaster.
Organize and support community volunteers in promoting school re-enrollment and addressing barriers to attendance.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Track and report educational outcomes, documenting the progress of educational activities, including the number of children returned to school and the impact of remedial learning interventions.
Provide regular updates and reports to the Project Coordinator, highlighting successes, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Child Protection & Safeguarding:
Ensure that education interventions are implemented in line with child protection standards and that schools and learning spaces remain safe for children.
Promote inclusive education practices, ensuring that vulnerable children, including girls and children with disabilities, have equal access to education.
PSEA Policy-
S/he should abide by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC)`s six core principles on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy. Ensure the safety of team members (in respect to Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse - PSEA) from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program`s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Contingent Task Assignments:
The Project Head may assign additional tasks based on the demands of the emergency situation and program requirements.
