Job Context:
∎ The Director (Agriculture and Climate Change) will be assigned to his/ her post by the Executive Director of RDRS Bangladesh. S/he will maintain congenial working relations with all Directors as well as other departmental Heads to maintain better coordination and a productive working environment.

∎ The Director (Agriculture and Climate Change) is basically responsible for strengthening and promoting agricultural activities, Climate change adaptation, and emergency response program and project activities within RDRS and in the region where RDRS works. The position is to provide professional support and leadership to a team of 10-12 (even more) quality staff under this unit. The position is based in Dhaka with the need for frequent field visits to all working areas. Director (Agriculture and Climate Change) is to ensure sectoral planning, resource mobilization, monitoring, coordination, advocacy, networking, and implementation. As Unit head s/he is responsible for the effective functioning of the unit in conformity with RDRS Strategy and Strategic Operating Plan.
∎ The Director (Agriculture and Climate Change) will report to the Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Resource Mobilization, Implementation, Supervision and Monitoring:
∎ Develop innovative ideas for climate change adaptation and resilience building for vulnerable communities and prepare proposals for resource mobilization.
∎ Guiding, facilitating and supervising the activities of the agricultural Sector staff through developing/managing extension services, demonstration, action research and viable agro-based income generating activities.
∎ To introduce improved technologies and farming / resource management practices which will maximize available resources and address existing constraints, especially those which advance food and income security for the poor. This includes working to adapt, innovative and improve RDRS models and working approaches in integrated homestead farming and other areas.
∎ Monitor, follow-up and supervise the agricultural project activities to keep the activities in right track.
∎ Provide capacity building training and follow-up to ensure that concerned staff performance are aligned with sectoral goals and objectives.
∎ Assess the activities related to crop production, management, marketing and knowledge of different officials and program participants to determine the training needs.
∎ Conduct action research on safe food, Hy-yield variety, protein and zinc enrich rich and organic farming. Developed cases studies and impact reports on different activities.
∎ Planning and Coordination:
∎ Developed yearly plan of operation with detailed budget under Agriculture, Climate Change and Emergency Response sector.
∎ Supervise, coordinate and check the annual/quarterly/monthly planning/progress of field activities; ensure timely flow of information to Project Unit and Sectoral Head as well as to M&E Unit.
∎ Plan and conduct regular/special meeting with concerned staff and other sectors and maintaining follow-up for the implementation of the planned activities agreed in the meeting.
∎ Maintain effective coordination and synergies with other sectors including micro-finance for long term sustainability of the development interventions.
∎ Networking and Advocacy
∎ Maintaining consultative relations with Government line agencies, NGOs, Research Institutes, Private Sectors and Civil Societies.
∎ Organize and coordinate different issue-based workshop, seminar for increasing influence on and access to right of poor people for sustainable livelihoods.
∎ Working to buildup the capacity of PNGOs and establish linkages between farmers group and service providers to mobilize services at farmers' level.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 40 years
∎ At least 10 years in senior management position;
∎ Sound knowledge on Agriculture project implementation and Research;
∎ Excellent computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel and Power point;
∎ Advocacy and networking capabilities;
∎ Project Proposal Development;
∎ Liaison capacity with different donors and GO/ NGO;
∎ Committed to safeguarding and protection of children and vulnerable adults.

Salary: Negotiable
