Responsibilities & Context:

Blue Planet is an RMG based company looking for a Designer experienced in knitwear, activewear, and lingerie products. The job responsibilities of the position are-

• Research global fashion trends, colors, fabrics, and silhouettes related to knitwear, activewear, and lingerie.

• Analyze market demand, competitor products, and buyer requirements to develop suitable design ideas.

• Create original garment designs through hand sketches, CAD drawings, and digital illustrations.

• Develop seasonal collections and new style concepts based on buyer briefs and brand direction.

• Prepare mood boards, inspiration boards, and color palettes for each season.

• Select appropriate fabrics, trims, elastics, laces, prints, and accessories according to design requirements.

• Ensure materials provide comfort, stretch, breathability, and durability for activewear and lingerie products.

• Prepare detailed tech packs including measurements, construction details, stitching instructions, trims, labels, and artworks.

• Develop print, embroidery, and graphic placement designs when required.

• Coordinate with merchandising, pattern making, and sampling teams during product development.

• Monitor sample development and provide corrections to ensure design accuracy.

• Review proto samples, fit samples, and pre-production samples and suggest improvements.

• Evaluate garment fit, silhouette, functionality, and comfort for different body types.

• Ensure designs are suitable for bulk production while maintaining quality and aesthetic standards.

• Communicate with buyers regarding design development, approvals, and design changes.

• Maintain proper documentation of design files, style records, and approvals.

• Support cost optimization through efficient material selection and design adjustments.

• Ensure designs comply with buyer standards, brand guidelines, and quality requirements.

• Assist production teams in resolving design or construction issues during manufacturing.

• Stay updated with new fabrics, garment technologies, and sustainable design practices.

• Ensure timely completion of design tasks to meet development and production deadlines.
