Responsibilities & Context:
We are hiring a Denim Technologist cum Wash Technologist.
Job location in China.
Department product development/ R&D/ technical & Washing.
5-10 years’ experience required in the field.
The Denim cum Wash Technologist oversees the technical, fit, and presentation of denim garments.
This role requires hands-on expertise in denim fabric properties, pattern grading, sewing construction, and advanced wet/dry washing techniques.
The ideal candidate ensures that buyer design concepts are translated into scalable, repeatable, and sustainable production recipes
Responsibilities
1. Denim & Wash Development (Sampling)
Lead new denim wash and finish development processes based on seasonal buyer trends and mood boards.
Formulate innovative wash recipes.
Oversee dry processing techniques.
Coordinate sample creation from first proto to fit, salesman, and pp (pre-production) samples.
2. Technical & Quality Control
Review tech packs, analyse shrinkage, stretch recovery, and quality of raw denim fabrics.
Provide accurate fit comments, grading specs, and construction corrections to pattern and sewing floors.
Conduct rigorous physical and chemical testing on washed samples (tensile strength loss, color fastness, crocking, and crease recovery).
Troubleshoot regarding shade variation, back-staining, seam puckering, and uneven abrasion.
3. Production Coordination & Standardization
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of direct floor/ experience handling denim fabrics and commercial laundry operations
Technical Competencies:
Mastery of modern laundry machinery
Strong understanding of sewing construction, shrinkage formulas, and measurement specifications.
Soft Skills:
Effective cross-functional communication with buyers, merchandisers, and factory workers.
Analytical problem-solving under tight sampling deadlines.
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Excel for recipe logs and tracking).
Passport availability & Willing to work in china.
